Happy Birthday, !EquestrianDawn MUSH. May your future be a prosperous and happy one. (Meanwhile I need to chill out on the daily logins. Thing's gonna be the death of me at this rate.)

Public chalkboard? Draw fillies on balloons. I've really gotta pick up some new interests or something. (Did Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Fillytwi on the boards so far. Probably won't see another open chalkboard for a while unless I buy my own.

@alargesmallhorse Objectively speaking, Season 2 had better animation and detail-work than Season 1 did. (Intro reworked, distinct magic-colors per character. Variety in pony body builds increased, since they had the old ones available to reuse.) || Subjectively, I believe Season 1 makes a better humor series, and Season 2 makes a better exploratory series.

@alargesmallhorse Hearts as a symbol and love/romance/non-friendship-bonding as a theme were the hints for the ending. Family as a theme is scattered for about 1/4th of the episodes. It represents Shining Armor and Twilight's relationship. Hearts and romance as a theme is similarly scattered through season 2's lineup in hint at Shining Armor and Cadance's relationship. This season has not nearly as blunt about it as the three particular Grand Galloping Gala episodes last season. I'm not convinced the season turned out any better for it, either.

@alargesmallhorse "I don't think the amount of references to it in the episodes really make much of any difference at all." Possibly. It's hard to tell because of other key changes for the whole duration of the season, such as Twilight not being required to write the letters. This ended up making a lot of 'friendship' lessons we see harder to see where they're coming from. And episodes like Mmmystery just about throw the friendship out the window for wacky antics. In the case of Baby Cakes, yeah. It's pretty easy to work around the little bit of hints they dropped and still have the episode happen without elements of romance or complications of intimate relationships getting involved. Yet there's Hearts and Hooves Day, which wouldn't function without.
-
@alargesmallhorse Ah, got it.
-
@rainbowflash No... :B Doesn't really ring any bells.
-
@rainbowflash Ah. O.O

Another way of reading it is that they want to play up the romance angle of the series. Just follow the line of logic: Friendships-> build up into courting relationships-> which become the romantic relationships-> that lead into families-> Offspring have to learn lessons of friendships from the beginning.

Season 1 Episodes that make clear references to romantic/sexual 'love' beyond friendship: 3/26. (The Ticket Master, Green is Not Your Color, Best Night Ever) || Season 2 Episodes that make clear references to romantic/sexual 'love' beyond friendship: 9/26. (Cutie Pox, Secret of my Excess, Hearth's Warming, Baby Cakes, Hearts and Hooves Day, A Friend in Deed, Putting Your Hoof Down, and A Canterlot Wedding Parts 1 and 2. .) If you include the topic of family relations as opposed to friendship, you can get a much bigger difference between the seasons. In one hoof, it seems like they wanted to hint at the season ending like they did Season 1's gala. In the other, it seems like they're trying to branch out and explain that friendship is not all there is to relationships, but it is merely one kind of relationship that breeds many...

Kicked during Chargin a second time. Error 0008:0000. I wonder if the server doesn't like me. One or two more tries, then I get some rest.

#Elin. Obviously. What else would I pick?

With some work, managed to get TERA online's open beta installed, but the game kicked me when I tried to name my character. Has a bit of a long startup time for me, too. No clue if my system will play it OK. !vgp

I keep thinking it would be fun to write a story about ponies searching for a place to buy ink so that they can make graph paper. It would be a gridmark shopping fanfic.

The more info I get about <omit>, the more sure I am I will not like <omit>. I hope I am being intentionally mislead.

I really really wish I was playing Infamous right now. !vgp Havn't felt an urge this strong to play a particular game in a while.
