@snowcone yeah, but ... well.. maybe you have a point. Still, doesn't the likelihood of virus infection on a PC depend on what you use it for? Why shouldn't I just use a firewall and be done with it?

@mylittletrixie lol. I felt the exact same way. Mine started out with a mediocre 2k word prologue though. I ended up posting it /because/ I wanted to feel pressured to write more, though.

@thewaifutyphoon You're asking me to adjust what I do for everybody to suit your preference. I'm saying I don't mean it condescendingly. I can certainly try to remember you don't like it when I assume things, but I might forget, so I'm not going to give you my word on it. If you feel people think less of you simply for starting with the basics, that seems like a problem I can't be concerned with, otherwise I begin to worry everybody assumes I'm being unkind, no matter what I say. Others will appreciate what you don't appreciate, and vice-versa. Some, for example, would feel embarrassed for not knowing what I'm talking about unless I just kept it simple. I find your presumption that I think I'm better than you (that I'm being condescending) to be offensive. Why should you assume that of me?

@jamster Bigger screen, better battery life, the included SD card is bigger if I recall correctly... The DPI on the XL is the same as the 3DS though so don't expect to get better image quality. The XL is nice if you have big hands.

@pony As long as the hardware isn't totally wrecked, anything as old as a 386 should run some distro or another.

@scribus It used to run some older version of Ubuntu. I can't remember whether I gave up on it just because I got a newer machine or it totally got fried, but yeah. I could probably make it play HD videos, maybe.

@pony Yeah, having it specially set to run XBMC and run an HDMI connection from it to your TV and either having all of your media on it or a network connected hard drive that it can connect to

@thewaifutyphoon I already am able to connect an external HD to my bluray player, but a fully functional laptop would be more awesome since I could probably use it with my UBS remote control. I dunno. Now I'm torn. I suppose I could use my old desktop PC for what I had in mind and devote this laptop to being an HTPC, or I could use my old desktop as the HTPC. Either way I'd still need to figure out how to get my switch to work with my homeplug network connection.

I finally have a functioning laptop! Hooray!! Hi, this is my OC! He was lonely growing up and spent more time indoors eating chips and drinking soda, so he's a bit pudgy. He thinks he's the coolest colt in school because he wears a fedora and doesn't believe in Celestia. He likes to make human OCs for himself that display him as a handsome and fit knight.

@redenchilada Also, if we're locked into thread/new mode it becomes harder to keep track of new comments generally. Maybe this could be fixed with a parallel mini-feed of new comments that either floats in the sidebar, always visible, or something else.
