  2. @thismightbeauser I think they completed the first run of 50 states a while ago, and have gone into a couple cycles of state-themed stuff, like birds or trees or something, but we've been on a "coin shortage" all pandemic so I haven't seen quarters in weeks at least, lol

  6. Man, it used to be that when I spent half a week limping, I at least had a batcaveen (or dumbass) story behind it... stupid dumb late-30s...

  10. @mrmattimation I used to build Age of Empires maps on my buddy's Windows 98 machine with bird spawn points enough to just barely not melt the motherboard

  11. @adiwan I'm willing to let go of ball mice, but I still want me some PS/2 ports because damn it you only give me four USB ports and expect two of them to be mandatory input devices???

  14. Also hoping I coincidentally score a Splatterhouse full-spread ad I was entranced by as a smeet within the comic books, so that would be rad.

  15. TMI? Don't picture me all old and hairy, remember! I was eight! I was only hairy.

  17. OK finally going to finish a Batman story that terrified me when I was eight years old, friggin' Idiot drug-monster popping out from the wall, I couldn't sit straight on the toilet for a month!

  18. On that note, since I've started thinking my novel series would work better with graphics, delving into a couple TPBs and maybe loose issues, for research purposes.

  19. I have tried, now and then, to get into comic books. Never stuck. Usually, I end up digging some indie title that peters out after six issues, other times it becomes painfully obvious that Marvel/DC (and probably others?) aren't respectful to the readers, or creators, or material... It's like, they're such a cool thing, but it's such an awful market. Or, so my luck has been, anyway.

  20. @adiwan Every. Single. Update. Removes functionality and control from the Users. It's just waiting for TRON to liberate the Grid!

Friday, 13-Nov-20 23:41:43 UTC from web in context
  21. @adiwan No; I had to spend three hours "updating" to record three minutes of audio...

  23. OK but seriously, I always did kind of think it would be cool to be a tree. Or Swamp Thing, best of both... well, SOME of both worlds.

  24. @oracle Conspiracies were so much more fun in middle school, when it was the Alien's cloaking tech keeping Bigfoot and Nessie safe, and Mothman tried to warn us of infrastructure failures...

  25. @adiwan All the while, they hope it's good enough to pass for "customer service," but bad enough to save them the fiver.

  26. @vcgriffin It may have already faded to mist and memory

  27. @adiwan Ah, yeah, it's not a year-round snow, here. Maybe further north, yeah, but then the surf becomes a different story, lol.

  28. @adiwan Eh, it's California. It's a local gag that you can surf in the morning, and ski in the afternoon. Or vice-versa.

Monday, 09-Nov-20 18:47:24 UTC from web in context
  29. In fact, we just had our first local snow, a couple thousand feet up

Monday, 09-Nov-20 17:27:03 UTC from web in context
  30. @adiwan I've got a mountain about an hour away, so snow isn't like completely strange - I have used chains, and I do know of what we call "snow tires." Just never rose beyond "knowing about" to "thinking about." I feel like our snow tires might be "studded" or something, I rode in a car with them once and it had a distinct noise and vibration to it. Nothing bad, just obviously different.
