  2. Stranger Things Season 5 part 1 was quite good. A lot happened but it didn't meander as much as some other season. It had a tight direction and the editing cuts were at time creative, maybe a little too much in a short time. 8/10

    • @scribus No. I can see past that. It's unfair to point that out as the actors can't do anything against that. I bet CGI doctoring would look worse. It's less aggregious

    • @adiwan I'm kinda mixed on it, like I'm used to seeing high school freshmen who shave three times a day from all those 80s movies with 25 year olds playing teenagers, but at the same time I've seen them be middle schoolers before, it's not like they were introduced in this age category. They really need to do something about these screwed up production schedules, it had been so long between seasons I didn't even know if I'd seen the last one or not, lol.

about 6 months ago in context
    • @scribus I get you. I had a similar reaction at the first episode but I got quickly used to. Production schedules are always a mess. Many cogs in the system with any points of failure with as many compromises. I don't believe they did it on purpose stretching the release as they did. I think there are most likely scheduling conflicts and creative differences in the way.
My mother regularly asks me when new Outlander episodes will be released and I have to console here that's taking a long time to film. On top of that I have to wait for the German synchro to be released for download.

  3. If I hadn't this Humble Bundle Image Comics bundle is fire https://www.humblebundle.com/books/image-comics-in-10s-books About 17€ for bangers like Saga, I Hate Fairyland, Papergirls, and Curse Words. Moonstruck is neat, as well as Plutonia. Ice Cream Man I read only an issue and it's also intriguing as it's an anthology. Sex Criminals got me annoyed and stopped at Volume 3. Maybe it gets better but the characters were grating. mango Planet is a trash fire in my opinion despite the intriguing premise. I can't say anything about the other comics except most have fairly good reviews.

  4. I don't like resin 3D-printing. It's so messy and slimy and gets everywhere.

    • @adiwan Does it at least look anything like the sci fi cyborg bath kind of Ghost in the Shell type scene that I already know in my heart it doesn't?

about 6 months ago in context
    • @scribus I own the first Elegoo Mars SLA 3D printer. It uses an array of UV LEDs that shines through an LCD that masks the areas that exposes the UV-curing resin. That is below the resin VAT that has a very sturdy, slightly flexible and transparent bottom. The actual model that is 3D-printed is attached to a parallel platform that moves up (and down) such that the exposed resin is at the defined layer height. Sadly it's not that cool-looking. It needs about an hour of print time until the printed model can be seen while printing. It's also a source of my anger as a failed print takes that time to be detected.

  9. I don't understand the pricing of used Raspberry Pi. They either cost exactly as much as new or they cost even more. All I want is to connect my 3D printers to my network as cheap as possible.

  10. Then again, to be fair, I remember next to nothing about Urban Legend, and I guess he was deleted from Phone Booth so I've really only seen three movies with him (American Psycho being the last)

about 7 months ago from web
    • @scribus I've seen American Psycho, Phone Booth, Bladerunner 2049, and Morbius. So my count is the same. Morbius was the only film I deliberately watched to see Leto and even my pretty low expectations were somehow challenged by his bizzarre acting. Besides that everyone was idiotic in that film.

  12. I suppose it's ultimately a good thing that my local food bank has enough volunteers that it's actually kind of challenging to schedule a volunteer shift, right? That means people are actually helping, yes?? Not that they're critically underfunded to the point where they can't even afford free labor, right???

  27. At my work they want to push Copilot and ChatGPT on us. All people who are participating need to fill out a questionnaire and answer what's been done with AI and if it were effective or not. I'm hesitant to participate and rate negatively everything.

    • @scribus I have seen articles about that today. I spoke today with a colleague (is a graphic (3D) designer and UX designer) who vibe-codes prototypes. During our talk he showed what he made and was altering things during our call. It was wild how Cursor messes things up and needs constant supervision. I mean it's impressive that someone with no coding experience achieved that but crutches can only go so far until they create other pain points.

  28. Animation was good, the visuals not my cup of tea. It wasn't thaaat bad technically but it has a lot of what I don't gel with. I get adventure films and mystery but in Flow it is getting me on my nerves as nothing appears to be explained or wanted to be explained and all the characters' motivations and inner thoughts can only be guessed by the actions, because they are animals but with some human-like cognitive abilities. It's frustrating me on a deeper level in regards of story telling.

about 8 months ago from web
    • @scribus not that it matters at this point but I was thinking about it recently because if I am it would explain… a lot. Thought about getting a diagnosis because at this point I would just like to know.

  30. Unpopular opinion: Flow, the animated film sucks. If you're a vibes or animal person, it might be something. It's just some animals roaming the land and escaping rising waters.
