  2. @toksyuryel I find it incredible that tumblr doesn't seem to have a direct "report abuse" link.

  4. @toksyuryel At this stage, if you're buying an Android handset and if the ideals that the Android Open Source Project represents are even remotely important to you, you should be buying devices solely from the Nexus line. Anything else is asking for disappointment.

  5. @toksyuryel That's why the complete collapse of conventional economics is required. The vast majority of people do not consider taking a pay cut to do the same work to be an acceptable compromise.

  6. @toksyuryel And that's where I and many others disagree with the !FSF - free culture. By the way, e.g. Ryzom's code is licenced under the AGPL and assets under CC-BY-SA.

  7. @toksyuryel Barring the complete collapse of the scarcity based economy and the resultant loss of the concept of "financial incentive", OSS is never really going to be viable in most sectors. It is an all or nothing proposition.

  11. @toksyuryel I couldn't agree more, but I will admit that I don't know how to do this either. The game I am currently writing is FOSS, due to it being based on GPLv2 code, and I must say I truly enjoy writing open-source software more than I thought I would. Knowing that others can read your code means they can directly see you progress as a programming, and can help point out mistakes you've made (like @bitshift did recently regarding double equal signs in my Javascript code). I understand that most game developers wouldn't want their code to be visible, as they fear piracy, but I wonder if that's actually true. I mean, let's be honest, how many people are going to share source code when they can just let one person buy the game and pass the binary files around?

  12. @toksyuryel True, you have. I must say that I can understand that decision, but I personally do not think purposely lowering security is a good way of "fixing" the issue.

  20. @toksyuryel Actually, the "bad OC" blog, while I find it a little unpleasant, is mostly submissions. Pretty sure whoever runs it doesn't actually have much of a beef against anyone.

  24. @toksyuryel Yeah but the idea is that they have to have almost no idea of what to expect. If I use a prebuilt game already, that goes against the initial idea. :p

  30. @toksyuryel I still haven't seen any proof that the attacks on Tinker have been related to the con at all. I know one of the guys pulled some stuff over her, but anything related to the rest of the staff seems like speculation at best, unless I've missed something.
