    4. @greydragon412 is british, and does not understand our American education system. A diploma, or rather High School Diploma is awarded when a student completes 12-13 years of school as mandated by Federal and state laws. After completing a year in Kindergarten, Grades 1-5 is Primary (Elementary), 6-8 is Middle (or Junior highschool in some places) and 9-12 is secondary (High school).

    6. @greydragon412 Well, yes... the HSD is required for Collage or university, and always a requirement for a Job. I have a HSD and was awarded state specific certification in reading and writing proficiency. I also just got my A+ Certification from Comptia, which is a ISO standard in PC repair and maintenance.

      1. @cabal Ohh, I've always wanted to be A+ certified. How does one go about doing that?

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:14:01 UTC from MuSTArDroid
        1. @gangstashy Well, you will need to study for the test. There are several books out there and classes you can take, (but classes are expensive). I got a book from one of Comptia's certified vendors called GTS Learning. Then when you think you are ready, you need to schedual two tests. the 701 essentials and 702 practicals. After passing both tests, you get it after confirming your details on the cert tracker site.

                1. @elind85 Windows 7 is actually pretty good. XP is okay, and Vista is just plain horrible.

                    3. @colfax Windows...ME? I had that as my first computer, I think. It came loaded with arcade games like pacman, and centipede.

                    1. @elind85 Me too, only I like it's free cousin, Linux. #

                    2. @elind85 Yet, have you even tried Windows in the past? What about windows 7? I bet you never tried win7.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:35:02 UTC from web
                      1. @ladestitute i've used Win 7 a lot, every day at work for over a year, it's a better windows distro for sure, they copied Mac OSX bigtime on the interface, but it's still terrible in comparison, it hasn't been reliable at all, half the time I have to do work on my macbook because the windows computer is always failing at things

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:38:06 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                        1. @elind85 sound like it needs more memory, the 2GB in my machine is too basic.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:40:53 UTC from web
                          1. @cabal perhaps, but it ran nicely when it was brand new. I run it an extremely light system with minimal apps, most of my work is web based so there's no reason for it to run so poorly, except for it being windows of course, hehe.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:50:53 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                2. @elind85 Well, it certainly isn't a MAC Sandwich. #

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:31:45 UTC from web
                  1. @cabal i like my setup with 2.7 Ghz Core i7, 8 GB Ram and OSX Lion, i use linux for my server though

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:36:03 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                    1. @elind85 lol Mac. If you pay for a mac machine, your usually being ripped off. Seriously.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:37:43 UTC from web
                      1. @ladestitute i don't deny that they're more expensive but you get what you pay for with technology. The build quality is far superior. I have used a lot of macs and PC's over the years. PC are fast when they're brand new, but they continually slow down and develop system errors, whereas macs will stay the same as new for long time. After a year my work PC is a bucket of mud, but my macbook is just as fast as the day I bought it

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:42:08 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                        1. @elind85 That's because Apple likes to control every aspect of design. PCs need to maintenance every now and then... Speaking of Macs, do they have certification courses for their maintenance needs? #

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:47:05 UTC from web
                          1. @cabal i don't think so, everything I know is self taught, and I know a lot more about macs then the people in the apple stores, hehe

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:48:40 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                            1. @elind85 Ah, here we go... http://training.apple.com/certification

                              1. @cabal yep, i should go and tell them about all the hackintoshes we have in our house lol

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:52:50 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                1. @elind85 I know that @quetzalcotl 's brother has played with hackintoshes. I don't have time because I just found out how crappy our internet service is... Everyone else is getting cable internet except me and my rural neighbors, thus cannot DL iso fast enough for me to even bother.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:57:13 UTC from web
                                  1. @cabal i had hackintoshes for a while, but eventually i got tired of how cheap PC build quality is and wanted a real mac

                    2. @elind85 Besides the exorbitant amounts that Apple charges, You can hardly service the machines yourself. I like upgrading my hardware every so often.

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:39:30 UTC from web
                      1. @cabal sure you can upgrade them, i just upgraded the ram on my new mac a week ago, you just have to be smarter to work on macs, hehe

Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 23:40:40 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
            2. @derps I don't think you should be building a computer if you don't even know what kind of hard drive to buy first.
