    3. @abigpony It was just a plugin when Cabal was doing it too. What's the difference between having the software subscribe to you and never interact and having no one? It just put me in mind of the Tom the myspace guy.

    4. @abigpony The purpose of the autosubscribe plugin he used is to make sure administrative updates show up on user pages as well as the public timeline. I think you're attributing noble intent where there was none.

    5. @abigpony After his most recent stunt, and having read his blog posts on the subject, my respect for the guy basically hit 0, so yeah. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he just came off as an absolute tool.

    6. @abigpony This crap. He comes of as "Angry 14 year old /b/ user who just read fight club and is convinced he can solve all the worlds problems" http://cabal.rainbowdash.net/index.php?title=Main_Page

            1. @mrdragon I don't either. It's almost as if running a social networking site requires a completely different skillset to founding one! /sarcasm

    7. @abigpony They KYM thing was the most recent (and in fact, only) thing on there last time I looked at it. That entire episode was just unspeakably stupid.

    8. @abigpony Yeah, but you wouldn't run around and force the view on people.

    9. @abigpony I'm not fond of them either, but there is a difference between "having principles" and behaving the way he did. The adult thing to do would have been to withdraw his attendance from the con, perhaps make a post on a personal blog explaining his reasons, and discuss it with Tinker in private to see if some compromise could be reached. The adult thing to do was NOT to throw a fit, and arguably abuse a position of respect within the community (and to be honest, abuse Tinkers forbearance) and (fake) leave forever.

    10. @abigpony No, that I understand. But what I meant was, you won't sit here and demand that everypony change their ways at once, as in. Abandon all hope ye who enter here. Like what he did pretty much, I'm all for changing my views. But it's one thing to ask for a change and show why, it's another to sit there and force it on to people.

    11. @abigpony Attempting to call someone out in public like that is different to attempting to have a private conversation with them. If he tried to contact her privately and found he was stonewalled, dragging it out in public was STILL an inherently inflammatory act. All EITHER of them did onsite was state their views. (If you look at it from the perspective of someone who DOESN'T hate KYM, they ARE just a bunch of people, after all). Apart from the act of dragging it up here being kind of classless, there wasn't any real issue /there/ either. The point at which it stopped being a polite exchange of views was "EVERYONE BOYCOTT FAV AND REPEAT PLZ". There's no way to spin that for me that doesn't come off as petulant attention seeking. I'm ignoring your last line because it's inflamatory and pointless.

    12. @abigpony He might have done. The fact that he brought his private discourse with her out HERE is the part I take issue with. If she's not interested in his view, that's kind of her perogative. It's her convention, after all. Calling her out here was a thinly veiled attempt to "force" the debate his way. "She can't ignore me if I call her out in public!" seems to have been the thought process, and I, personally find that to be an objectionable way to behave. As for the personal army thing, if you view his profile. (He's user profile 1, of course) you'll find his EVERYONE BOYCOTT IN PROTEST post.
