        1. @leonkfox nope, so many games coming out, if i bought them at full price i'd be broke

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:30:29 UTC from web
          1. @purplephish20 This is why I love Love Film, means I only have to buy the games I REALLY want, the others I can just rent, play and send back for 15 quid a month, unlimited rentals too.

    2. @leonkfox Sonic Adventure 2 still exists bro.

      1. @scoot Aaagh! Sonic Adventure 2 is my favourite Sonic game! :3

        1. @pinhooves SA2 is my favourite game ever.

      2. @scoot Yeah, that is a great game, but I think Sonic Generations is superior.

        1. @leonkfox You have fallen from grace.

          1. @scoot No, not really.

            1. @leonkfox Sonic Adventure 2: Extremely varied gameplay, HAS CHAO GARDEN. Generations: 2 styles of very similar gameplay. NO CHAO GARDEN. I rest my case.

              1. @scoot Read the reply I just gave you, it explains why I feel Generations is superior to Sonic Adventure 2.

                1. @leonkfox I was about to write why I disagree.

        2. @leonkfox I wanna play Sonic Generations rather a lot... but I just can't afford a current gen console at the mo...

          1. @pawnheart Sorry to hear that. :(

          2. @pawnheart Try and get one for free of a friend. I got my xbawksthreesixty for free from a friend who never used it. It came with DLC installed and everything.

      3. @scoot Hmm... must say... I don't like it as much as the first SA. On the DC version at least, there's some seriously crippling camera stuff... and that level where you're chasing a car round a circuit?! What the hay's with that?!

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:27:49 UTC from web
        1. @pawnheart I don't seem to have these camera problems. I had camera issues in SA1 a lot though, also the car chases are so easy I manage to A rank them with no effort so I deem them as "acceptable diversions"

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:29:34 UTC from web
          1. @scoot Which version are you most familiar with? I've never played Battle, is all... the DC one is all I have.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:30:51 UTC from web
            1. @pawnheart I'm familiar with Battle most really, which I guess has more polish

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:31:57 UTC from web
              1. @scoot I bet you're right actually... cos seriously, some of the Tails robot stages on the DC version are next to unplayable on occasion.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:33:14 UTC from web
                1. @pawnheart Should hunt it down... Aside from the probable improvements... Somepony spilt something that /could be/ Irn Bru on the power button of my DC, and it keeps turning itself off in the middle of games.

                  1. @pawnheart Dreamcasts are notorious for outright laser failure anyway so all of them are doomed. I'm the only person I know with a functional dreamcast.

                      1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony I've owned 3 Dreamcasts, all of which have had annoying faults here and there. I've combined them into a fully functional frankencast though so thats good I guess. I buy systems when I see them because often they're cheaper than replacement lasers

        2. @pawnheart @scoot (loks at dead DC) "One day, my dear, I will revive you. And I shall play awesome games on you again. One day..."

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:32:38 UTC from web
          1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Ah... mine is not long for this world... my brother cultivated a pretty swanky collection for it too. He's got both Shenmue games (I can't be bucked with 'em really... but apparently that's pretty unusual)... and I recently managed to procure 'Skies of Arcadia' from a charity shop for about 3 quid. Hows thangs anyway?

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:37:27 UTC from web
            1. @pawnheart Skies of Arcadia is the most overrated jrpg I know of. It had nothing going for it except for graphics that were really sweet back then. (All other dc owners form angry mob, I run away.)

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:41:07 UTC from web
              1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony I dunno really... seemed pretty hard... and I suck at turn-based games anyhoo. Think I gave up a couple of hours in.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:41:52 UTC from web
                1. @pawnheart Skies of Arcadia? Hard? Are...are...this is a joke, right. You are joking with me? One of my biggest complaints with the game is that it offers absolutely no challenge in combat.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:46:08 UTC from web
                  1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony The grind in SOA is SO UNFORGIVING though.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:48:05 UTC from web
                    1. @ceruleanspark Yes, but that is another flaw: It's impossible to not grind. You can't do an underlevelling challenge like you can in FF. "I'm gonna underlevel!" (Walks one step) "Combat? Oh well, I'll run." (Vyse and Aika gets in counterattacks and win the battle) (Rage comic face)

                      1. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony I don't think I even beat the first boss. The idea that I had to do 1400 random battles to level up enough threw me.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:53:13 UTC from web
                  2. @lilytheamazingfaintingpony Well, I only played it once... it does start with a fairly challenging boss though, as I recall.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:48:41 UTC from web
    3. @leonkfox The situation here is that you've just played and finished Generations and your opinions are all messed up. Generations has very little in the way of variation and it has basically no exploration of any kind so idk what you mean by that. It's entirely platforming with side missions as opposed to a variety of Platforming, Emerald Hunting, Mech battles etc. Not to mention Generations is disgustingly easy and takes way too little time to complete. Ever 100%'d SA2? Takes forever bro, A ranks are actually hard to get. Also: Chao Garden. This is still a big deal you haven't addressed.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:35:21 UTC from web
      1. @scoot My chao is Chao garden is best, beat everysingle race.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:37:01 UTC from web
        1. @stumperman07 I lost my chao data and all my great chao ;_;. Still have the emblems though

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:37:49 UTC from web
          1. @scoot That is sad.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:38:32 UTC from web
      2. @scoot My opinion's messed up just because I only just beat Generations? Dude, I beat Generations several days ago, I've been playing the Challenge Missions, which offer a lot more challenge than the main game does, but the main game is still fun, and yeah the Chao Garden is a nice feature, but I care more about the main gameplay than what is essentially a side feature, with all due respect. Plus, I hated Tails and Knuckles/Rouge's stages, so variety isn't always a good thing, HD Unleashed werehog is living proof of that.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:39:58 UTC from MuSTArDroid
        1. @leonkfox Challenge missions get gayer the further levels you go through.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:41:21 UTC from web
          1. @stumperman07 If you mean more difficult, then I do agree, but I appreciate the challenge factor, though some ARE a bit stupid, like the one where you have to beat Vector by bouncing a music note back at him, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:42:53 UTC from MuSTArDroid
            1. @leonkfox I really hated that vector one. I cheated and just started jumping infront of him after I hit the first note.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:43:51 UTC from web
              1. @stumperman07 Wait...that actually works? Damn, that could be the key to me getting an S Rank on that one! Some of them are pretty damn hard to S Rank, is rewarding when you eventually manage it though.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:45:18 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                1. @leonkfox I also found the robots in rooftop run are hard for classic sonic to kill.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:46:24 UTC from web
                  1. @stumperman07 The later levels seem to be designed with Classic Sonic having Homing Attack in mind.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:47:18 UTC from web
                    1. @scoot I also hated how some robots were placed, for both Classic and Modern, because they would stand on the ledge and just shoot you and you would just keep on failing to get passed.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:48:22 UTC from web
                2. @leonkfox It is luck to get though, I got it once beat it, and tried again and failed, so it takes luck.

            1. @pawnheart We were discussing 3D sonic. Also Sonic CD or bust bro

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:45:50 UTC from web
              1. @scoot Sonic CD is indeed an acceptable alternative. Sonic 3 & K is not (I'm spending an awful lot of time dodging projectiles under this table nowadays).

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:47:36 UTC from web
                1. @pawnheart I like Sonic3K, but I prefer CD and Sonic 1 much more. (Sonic adventure 2 is my absolute favourite game of all time still)

                  1. @scoot The first Sonic is good... but have you played Marble Zone recently?! Waiting for blocks to slowly move across lava pits has never been so little fun.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:49:56 UTC from web
                    1. @pawnheart Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone aside, Sonic 1 is a great game.

                    2. @pawnheart The difficulty (while not actually very challenging) wavers bizarrely too... and Labyrinth DOES NOT END. I do enjoy it however. I just think they made so many tweaks and improvements for the second game... its just wizard, daddy!

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:51:27 UTC from web
                    3. @pawnheart I hated Marble Zone, but that was the only zone I didn't like in Sonic 1, I loved all the others.

                      1. @leonkfox Well, I certainly find it's the one that is the most tedious on replays. If it were two zones, I perhaps wouldn't be so bothered. Starlight Zone is bawss, though!

                          2. @scoot It is a perfect wee Sonic zone. And that choon is sweet... even if it is a touch similar to 'Don't Get Me Wrong' by the Pretenders. Which is also a great track. I do personally think, music-wise, that Sonic 2 edges it out for consistency. S1 may have 'the Green Hill Zone', 'Spring Yard' (awesooome!) and the aforementioned win... but Marble and Labyribth, like their respective levels, grow rather tired... and Scrap Brain basically IS the Blade Runner theme.

                              2. @scoot It is a very good, different approach to the series. Though the Japanese soundtrack is mildly overrated (back under the table I go).

                                1. @pawnheart Technically the JP soundtrack is also the EU soundtrack. I don't even know why there is a seperate US soundtrack

                                  1. @scoot Thats always been a matter for conjecture... poor guy who did the US version was given less than a month to write AND record the whole thing.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:02:56 UTC from web
                                    1. @pawnheart That's pretty impressive, I guess thats why I found the JP soundtrack to always be a lot better composition wise.

                        2. @pawnheart Every zone in that game besides Marble is, I especially love Green Hill (who DOESN'T?) and Spring Yard Zone.

            2. @pawnheart I never use smileys. That was hard for me.

            3. @pawnheart I said best 3D Sonic game, Sonic 2 is the best Sonic game overall, and I wasn't squabbling, was trying to respectfully give my opinion, but...well, didn't do much good, did it?

Monday, 14-Nov-11 22:48:24 UTC from MuSTArDroid
          2. @scoot Sheesh, I wasn't even being rude, I was just giving my opinion, no need to be a murdock about it just because I disagree with you. >__>

          3. @scoot Yeesh dude.

            1. @shydash I think he has a fair point actually. Leon seems unwilling to concede that his opinion of Generations is coloured by the fact he played it most recently, and that it's the only good sonic game in literally a decade.

              1. @ceruleanspark There have been some darn good portable titles though, IMO. The first Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush Adventure are both quality, from where I stand.

                  1. @scoot Seriously, Sonic Rush Adventure not only was more forgiving than the first one (Bucking... 'ALTITUDE LIMIT'...), it also had a lot of replay value... and that trick system? Man, if that wasn't incredibly fun! They got rid of it for Colours... which I just didn't understand.

                    1. @pawnheart Colours had the Wisps, so I can sort of understand why, I did still miss it though.

                      1. @leonkfox Sometimes I'd forget that I was supposed to be landing somewhere, so busy was I doing a stupidly overlong combo.

                    2. @pawnheart But... I was really good at Sonic Rush. I also never played SRA because... I don't know.

                      1. @scoot Its well worth checking out IMO... the basic game itself is not long, it must be said, but there are literally hundreds of challenges and customization objectives you can do afterwards, that can be pretty challenging butt fun. Some of the time attacks are... brutal.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:16:18 UTC from web
                2. @pawnheart I played Advance 1 and 2 and to be honest they felt wrong to me. The game...flow felt wrong. It seemed very...juddery? Like it couldn't decide if it wanted to be a traditional platformer or a high speed thing.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:07:20 UTC from web
                  1. @ceruleanspark Fair enough. I wasn't all that impressed with Advance 2 tbh... well, I can't remember it... but I really enjoyed the first one. Some epic choons too.

                  2. @ceruleanspark Sonic Advance 1 was great, Sonic Advance 2 was pretty good, but it wasn't as engaging as the original, I still liked it though.

              2. @ceruleanspark What about Colours? I guess not everyone liked it, I'm just asking what you thought of it. And in regards to the other point, I did it most recently, but I as much as I loved Sonic Colours I knew right away it wasn't my favourite 3D Sonic game, and I've stuck to that viewpoint. I rarley change my mind on games unless it's years down the line and I haven't played them for some time.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:08:59 UTC from web
                1. @leonkfox Interestingly, Colors runs on the same physics engine as Generations. Colors is more or less "Generations without the nostalgia"

                  1. @ceruleanspark And with little alien gimmicks

                    2. @scoot It's true though. Generations is the same physics engine bolted onto a graphics engine capable of HD, bolted onto a series of rehashed old levels.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:27:16 UTC from web
                      1. @ceruleanspark I am aware, but I'm also aware it's a Sonic game that's genuinely fun to play. It also has the Classic physics down pretty well.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:28:14 UTC from web
                  2. @ceruleanspark I know, I loved Sonic Colours, I just didn't like it as much as HD Unleashed's day stages (day stages ONLY) as it was a lot easier than them, but it was still great nonetheless. Was curious as to what you thought of it though. :)

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:31:40 UTC from MuSTArDroid
              3. @ceruleanspark Which is why I side with @leonkfox because I'll hold the same exact opinion when I finally get to play it. There's also the fact that I've never played any of the older Sonic games save for the original... and the Shadow game. Since Generations is available, why bother with the older ones now? That's just wasted time and money. Generations has the best of all prior games in one.

                1. @shydash You just hurt me deep down in my heart. Right here.

Monday, 14-Nov-11 23:15:34 UTC from web
                2. @shydash No... While the modern gameplay is refined, and the classic levels are getting pretty close to proper, the classic games are huge enough relative to their prices these days that I'd be hard pressed to call it a waste. Generations is only really taking one world-theme per game.
