  1. Apparently "No, it's a she" wasn't the response my brother was expecting when he asked: "You sleep with a purple pony? What are you, some kind of (derogatory term for homosexual)".

      2. @pinhooves People who use that particular epithet rarely are.

    3. @ceruleanspark It's a perfect response, though.

      1. @flaxx I dunno I suspect I'm going to get accused of wanting to have sex with it now.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:45:36 UTC from web
        1. @ceruleanspark Well, I'm kinda used to being accused of stuff like that, so I don't care much. Would you take offense if he did that?

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:47:33 UTC from web
          1. @flaxx I would probably hump and spank the plush in front of him.

            1. @ceruleanspark Hahaha, sounds like a plan!

              1. @flaxx I would probably make clopping noises with my tongue also.

                1. @ceruleanspark Hahahaha that would be absolutely hilarious! Promise to film it if you do!

        2. @ceruleanspark I can totally see the immaturity in that accusation. They haven't accused you, have they?

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:48:21 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
    4. @purplephish Well my brother was using it to imply that I was a homosexual and that it would be a bad thing if I were, so in this specific case, he was using it in that exact way.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:45:16 UTC from web
      1. @ceruleanspark To the MOOOOOON with him then... Anyone ever feel like saying "I'm gay" to their family? Even if your not, just to get their initial reaction?

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:47:55 UTC from web
        1. @purplephish I once asked my mom what she would do/say if I told her I was gay. She said she'd ask me if I had a boyfriend.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:49:02 UTC from web
          1. @flaxx I can't see any point of COMINT out as anything specific unless you have a boyfriend/girlfriend to back up your point. It just makes the conversation appropriate as you then have something to "announce"

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:52:31 UTC from web
            1. @purplephish Exactly. Of course, I'm not gay so I don't actually /have/ to prove anything. I was just curious what she'd say. And, as I suspected, she'd accept it with no big whoop.

        2. @purplephish My mother thinks gays shouldn't be allowed to adopt because the kids will get bullied in school. I have pointed out that this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but it doesn't seem to get me anywhere

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:50:55 UTC from web
          1. @ceruleanspark >Implying kids don't get bullied for any other number of reasons.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:51:58 UTC from web
            1. @scribus >Implying kids need a reason to get bullied.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:52:41 UTC from web
            2. @scribus That's what I said. If kids want an excuse to bully your kid, they will find one, regardless of their parents sexual orientation. Kids are dicks!

              1. @ceruleanspark @redenchilada I think that minorities shouldn't be allowed to even HAVE children, because they might get discriminated against. They should be forced to adopt majority children. . . except, wait, then the kids and parents won't match. . .

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:54:54 UTC from web
          2. @ceruleanspark I'd agree, but I've heard stupider.

          3. @ceruleanspark Im completely for gay couples being allowed to adopt, id much rather have that for my kid (hypothetically) than some scrubby straight couple, would from the start teach the kid some love + tolerance

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:55:13 UTC from web
            1. @purplephish In the UK, out of 65k children in care, 3010 were adopted last year. We need more prospective adopters, not less.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:56:26 UTC from web
              1. @ceruleanspark I don't know the numbers, but I'm pretty sure there's a glut of potential adoptees and a lack of adoptors in the USA, too... And yet, Octomom. =|

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 18:57:26 UTC from web
                1. @scribus The sad fact is that the way most children in care cease to be children in care is by becoming a legal adult.

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 19:01:04 UTC from web
                  1. @ceruleanspark From what I hear, the system makes it a pain in the flank to adopt, anyway. I mean, yeah, you need to be sure they aren't going to eat the kids or anything, but c'mon! Eh, anyway, how 'bout them ponies?

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 19:02:46 UTC from web
                  2. @ceruleanspark Wow, I feel bad thinking about that. Why can't people help these poor children?

Wednesday, 28-Dec-11 19:03:24 UTC from StatusNet iPhone
                    1. @pinhooves Well, the government makes it somewhat inconvenient to adopt in general. (you have to pass all these tests and stuff to make sure you don't rape and eat the children or anything) but even then, it's a pretty inexcusable figure

                      1. @ceruleanspark What's going to happen to the children that grow up into adults? Are they going to kick them out, leaving them homeless?

                  1. @ceruleanspark I actually believe the human race should just stop reproducing for 5 years, then have a one child policy for the next 5. That'll sort out the population and give us room to breathe, any couples wanting kids will adopt the thousands you jut mentioned, getting rid of the 2 year waiting list
