@greydragon412 I remember when my local area got obsessed with math metal and grindcore, and my band couldn't book any shows as a result. the idea behind math or grind is you take a bunch of music students who want to try their skills to make the most complex show-offey sounds to impress others to be the next whoever they're inspired by - only problem is by the time they're done it's not music.

@crusader8 I've heard things saying Mathcore was using odd off-beat rhythms, such as like 3/5 time (lolwhat?)

@greydragon412 I'm pretty sure you could get 16 or 32, or any other 2^x value... Just outrageously uncommon to do more than 8. But I could be wrong, it's been years.
