    1. @cyrilthewolf Your name seems familiar. Are you even remotely internet-popular?

Monday, 26-Mar-12 01:16:49 UTC from web
      1. @policeman Uh, not quite "popular" but I'm known over at http://ocremix.org for a few remixes and I have been steadily trying to become somewhat famous among bronies. I make some music.

        1. @cyrilthewolf don't "try" and become popular. You only make people hate you more. I guess it was just your name or something that gives off that kind of vibe.

          1. @policeman I was speaking facetiously HAH! What I meant by that is just making stuff I hope other ponies will like. MIXED SUCCESS thus far! It's more as like, I dunno, trying to improve. If I improve then maybe I'll hit success by the numbers? I dunno, either way I am respected in the music community, I just sometimes wish more people knew about me :)

            1. @cyrilthewolf key to being a good musician: Make music and shut the hell up

Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:06:33 UTC from web
              1. @policeman ........................... I rather disagree with that point sir. I actually especially agree, now granted, some musicians get annoying as hell, but please how can we get music HEARD if we don't advertise or try to promote it. Last I checked promotion requires talking.

Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:10:45 UTC from web
                1. @cyrilthewolf Let the fans do the talking. Make the music and don't be a dick if fans confront you. Rule of rock, dude.

                  1. @policeman true dat. I get on stage to do my thing, and when people go "you promised metal you liar!" I say "Hey I do real singing, not screaming. If you have a problem with real singing there's a grindcore show next door have fun lol"

                  2. @policeman I could theoretically say that. I've run into the "Why don't more people know you" I don't think that's a rule of rock at all. In fact, it isn't. There's a reason bands hire promoters, but I have no money so I've got to do it myself. Once again, I'm not "trying" to be famous, I just know that with every song I need to work "the field" to get more people hear it outside of my normal fanbase, becuase internet fanbases don't seem to like to spread it until you reach a certain "Critical Mass" so to speak. These are all things I have observed and I'm not going to take it lying down, so I go and try to get more people to hear what I make and maybe they'll like it. I'm not whining and I made a very poor choice of words earlier. <3

                    2. @cyrilthewolf Real bands don't hire promoters. Those bands are usually sellouts and that's why they get the apples fanbases. People will start liking you because you're "becoming as popular as popular can be" and not for your music. Real fans like your music and try to spread it for you. It's the way smaller bands maintain great followings and sell out shows. Another rule is to please your fans, not yourself.

                        1. @cyrilthewolf I hear your lower-octave singing isn't as solid as your higher range. I'm the same way, I've been practicing lows for the past few months when I discovered a few lower notes in disney songs I couldn't sing. I've been also practicing on having a more consistent voice when singing, and by that I mean I usually emulate the voice of whoever's song I'm singing at the time (what would be a good cutie mark for voice acting? :P) so I';m trying to find my own voice when singing my own way... literally lol

Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:36:13 UTC from web
                          1. @crusader8 My lows have improved, depends on how high I'm going before then, it's kinda hard to maintain the whole thing! I'm more naturally low, I'll try to see if I can get you one of my live performances. Up until like the last 2 weeks I have had trouble getting the lows out in the studio haha. Thanks man! Going for consistency is good, I'm just too much of a punk for that I guess XD

Monday, 26-Mar-12 05:39:00 UTC from web
                            1. @cyrilthewolf It's funny you say that, I hear old-school punk and other related genres in your voice. If you heard me you'd be like "how does this guy go from sounding like a European metal singer to a copy/paste of aladdin?" I need to work on my vibrato too though, so my real highs aren't that rocky, but I think my biggest improvement is making more use of falsetto which I used to avoid like the plague. But I found it has its uses when done right.
