  1. MODS! LISTEN TO ME! Being yelled at for blah blah... because someone does not like you or otherwise your decisions or help, think about how cops feel. They don't. # but still, a woman had called me a "computer freak" at work simply because I asked her to clarify what she meant when the "mat was broken on the router" I understood she meant "NAT". She also said other mean things when I was escalating to the next level of internet support, and it got to me, but then I remember that nothing she said could have hurt me. So don't worry.

      1. @redenchilada That's how you SHOULD feel about it. People are going to yell at you, call you names, etc. It's part of the responsibility. You _need_ to know how to deal with it.

        1. @minti Exactly. I would have made a terrible mod two years ago. I got offended at _everything_ _anyone_ said to me if I had _any_ reason to take jt negatively. (Reasons included: I didn't like their shirt, they were too close to me, it was raining outside.) I couldn't be more glad to get past that.

          1. @redenchilada Yeah. I hate to admit it sometimes but one of my favourite personality traits is that I never take anything personally. It's left me a lot stronger in dire times than most people would be when put in my shoes. xD

            1. @minti And I _swear_ this show's the reason. "You like MLP? Gay." "Hehe yeah sure, whatever."

              1. @redenchilada For once I can safely say it wasn't the show that did it. Although it certianly did strengthen it. xD

      1. @eaglehooves I had one woman who said "the task manager isn't appearing. he must be out to lunch". I was pretty sure she was irate and being sarcastic when I asked her to push ctrl+alt+del at the same time to open the task manager in windows 7. Ended telling me that the ISP broke her computer after I recommended she take the computer to a tech. says I was no help at all! #

          1. @minti That's the shortcut to go straight to the task manager? THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've been needing that shortcut!

          2. @minti We did try this as well, the computer was locked up. AND WANTED IT FIXED NOW!!! But I don't fix computers. I'm not a PC tech, I am a Data Tech. I fix packets, not hardware/software, even though I am qualified. We have a whole other department for that. Plus, she said she has been through other ISPs and "they suck". What does that tell you?

            1. @cabal She's the type of person who thinks that computers are the little screen on their desk and the box off to the side is a useless accessory?

              1. @minti "Thanks god they didn't steal the monitor, I have all the documents stored there"

Sunday, 08-Apr-12 03:04:43 UTC from web
                1. @nerthos It's a reference to a clip of someone who was tasked with changing the CPU. They thought that the monitor was the entire computer and that changing the CPU was like changing a battery or something.

        2. @cabal I love the woman who brought her computer in saying 'hackers were stealing her internet through facebook'. Ended up being a dieing motherboard that was causing her issues. That was a fun phone call. Because of her bad experience with a $280 Dell she promised to never buy one again.
