    Alright, I am breathing in very slowly right now and trying to rationalize this. However, as far as I can tell right now my fanfic is dead before I can even write it. I just learned what Past Sins was all about and it's so damn popular that my fanfic will be scoffed at and constantly compared to it for trying to ret con Nightmare Moon. Literally, I'm about to throw my computer in the wall because I put a lot of time into planning this thing and I know now it won't be taken seriously due to the outrageous popularity and overall fanon acceptance of Past Sins.

            @redenchilada @scribus So far my policy regarding fanfics in relation to mine is to ignore them, but when I stumbled across pics of Nix and found out the huge fanbase for this fanon, which apparently even qualifies as whatever these kids are calling "expanded universe," it's now like my story if and when it comes oout will have no room to prove itself as a faithful expansion or elaboration of the elements and themes in the show. But @scribus makes me feel somewhat better with his comment

              @crusader8 Eh, don't worry about the dumb kids. As far as I know, people have mostly forgotten about that fic anyway.

                @redenchilada Hopefully, because although I wasn't dumb enough to expect my idea to be completely original I didn't expect there to be a well-received (for the most part) established fanfic that explores similar themes. I plan on making no changes to react to this however, because that would be silly.

                  @crusader8 Just stumbled in and noticed you in my feed. I wouldn't worry about 'Past Sins'. It's got a following, but also a huge backlash for various things (leaving it at that). You wouldn't be competing, so write it.

                    @eaglehooves didn't expect you to swoop in! I've actually received much more encouragement on this than I was expecting. I don't think I'll be able to get any progress in tonight or this weekend (really long shifts), but I will definitely have to start getting behind this and get it moving. I'll have to put my board game design stuff away too and not let it distract me, but by the Big Pen in the Sky I will craft something delicious, oops wrong adjective I mean "compelling."
