      @bitshift Increased the cache TTL so that dynamic pages were regenerated half as frequently, reducing the server load correspondingly. As the load varied I shortened the TTL's correspondingly to try and balance timeline responsiveness with load.

          @bitshift Yeah. Moving it up and down. The trouble with increasing the TTL is that it makes the timeline refresh slowly (as in, new posts take longer to show up), so I was trying to move it up and down in line with load so peoples updates would post faster, but not kill the server.

        @alargesmallhorse That's exactly the point. Due to increased traffic, the site should have encountered extreme slowdown. It didn't.
