        1. @cavatina Im off to college in... 15b minutes, and tonight; now I just bought a hard drive I need to back everything up.... yes, quite busy tonight

Tuesday, 01-May-12 16:58:51 UTC from web
        2. @cavatina But is it as flexible as mplayer?

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:05:35 UTC from web
          1. @toksyuryel Foobar is designed purely to be the most efficient music player ever, so what do you want from it? full expandability? :3

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:29:56 UTC from web
            1. @cavatina Oh, it's only a music player? Never mind then, apples and oranges XD

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:33:13 UTC from web
              1. @toksyuryel XD yep, vlc always for my video needs, Foobar for my Music stuff. Its perfect

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:34:08 UTC from web
                1. @cavatina I use mplayer for both music and video. vlc is pretty much the same thing as mplayer, just designed differently.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:36:11 UTC from web
                  1. @toksyuryel i need my music player to have a proper media library system, foobar meets that bill in a very poweruser style way :3

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:39:19 UTC from web
                    1. @cavatina I'm of the opinion that it's not the music player's job to manage that, because none of them do it in a standard way so changing to a new player means rebuilding the entire library. It's better to do that separate from any player so you only have to do it once.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:41:31 UTC from web
                      1. @toksyuryel Foobar doesnt! It just needs a folder, it has no form of database beyond where files are stored, thats what i like about it :3.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:49:06 UTC from web
                        1. @cavatina But that's how I organize my files already, so why would additionally need the music player to do it too?

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:50:23 UTC from web
                          1. @toksyuryel Nonononono, i mean the player doesnt really organise it, beyond keeping tabs on files in the folder you designate as media (up to 50 can be added). Its really a nicer way of dealing with it than any other player does it :3

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:53:08 UTC from web
                            1. @cavatina I don't understand why the player needs to "deal with it" at all though. Why can't it just play my music?

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:54:48 UTC from web
                              1. @toksyuryel It does this so it can index things so that the media search in the player can search based on every tag the file has. Its honestly the best implementation, if you add a file to the folder, foobar detects it, if you remove it, it detects it.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:55:38 UTC from web
                                1. @cavatina Why do I need to search with the player though? I can just search the file system if I've really lost something.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:57:19 UTC from web
                                  1. @toksyuryel So yous telling me you wouldnt wanna just type in...idk "R. Swire" and find all songs composed by him? thats why you have media search in a player, to find specific things. i really think you've missed the point here Toksy, no offence ^^;, its the exact same reason you sort files into folders except more versatile.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:58:58 UTC from web
                                  2. @toksyuryel i mean no offence btw ^^; but i dont think you are seeing the point when i've said it XD. Its just nice to be able to search your media library when its vast to find very specific things with ease. If you use the musicbrainz service, you can search for things based on the most meticulous criteria. Foobar is the only player that can use all these tags.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 18:00:21 UTC from web
                                    1. @cavatina But I can already search is my point! I don't need to use the media player to search, I only need the media player to play my media ^_^

Tuesday, 01-May-12 18:01:47 UTC from web
                                      1. @toksyuryel This is localised and more efficient though~ XD. Oh well :3

                                        1. @cavatina I don't see how it's either of those things. We should just stop discussing this I think, before somepony gets mad at us.

Tuesday, 01-May-12 20:44:42 UTC from MuSTArDroid

Tuesday, 01-May-12 16:56:30 UTC from web
        1. @cavatina I'm afraid I can't comment on that http://ur1.ca/95bxy

Tuesday, 01-May-12 17:03:21 UTC from MuSTArDroid
        2. @cavatina Now it works. Being honest, I would move the filter up and the progress bar and buttons completely down, but that's personal preference. It seems useful enough and isn't a design disaster like Amarok so I suppose it's nice
