  1. I mean, I'm using WordPad, which is much better than any standard Notepad, but there are certain things it lacks.

    1. @ickus I only ever use Notepad for writing. Oh yeah, that's right, I'm totally hardcore. :V </notrly>

          1. @binary There's still room for the "I hold magnets up to my hard drive" joke.

            1. @starshine I inscribe my data into vinyl discs with a sewing needle.

    2. @ickus Notepad++ master race here. Seriously any feature you need for .txt is right there. Also I do all my coding for every language in it. If it's a compiled language I code and organize in Notepad++ and then copy-paste it into my compiler. It truly is a wonderful application. http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Notepad and Wordpad will be useless from here on out.

      1. @ponybis You sound like a very interesting pony. Also, I use Eclipse when I write Java. Mostly because that's what my school wanted us to use.

      2. @ponybis Ugh. I tried using that once. It's so disorganized. The "Close all BUT this tab" menu item made me wtflol.

        1. @starshine Then again, I use a weird combination of gedit, vi, cat, and sed. (I really do.)

          1. @starshine I used vim before vi and now I don't even want to figure vi out. I guess I'm more of a Windows person so when I'm coding on my own machines I'm totally using Windows applications.

            1. @ponybis vim is vi! except with ... more things.

        2. @flaxx Things like Eclipse and Visual Studio do have some advantages over NP++ with things like guessing-what-you're-trying-to-type, but you can make macros for NP++ if you want to use certain functions a lot. @starshine It does have a bit of a wonky GUI at first, but once you figure it out it's extremely useful. Also what's wrong with CLOSE ALL BUT THIS TAB. That's a great feature IMO.

          1. @ponybis The weird wording of it just makes me laugh, especially the uppercase BUT. Also, being RIGHT NEXT to 'close this tab' is kind of dangerous, so if you screw up you end up doing exactly the opposite of what you want.

          2. @ponybis I like doing speedruns through Legend of Zelda while waiting for Eclipse or VS to load. :P
