So I got a $50 Walmart gift card from my brother for Thanksgiving, and I'm thinking about getting this:

I would save $20 and basically spend nothing. I've wanted a proper tablet, but is it worth it? Maybe @Ceruleanspark or somepony else here knows?

@pony I wouldn't trust a tablet from a company like RCA. I wouldn't trust a tablet from Walmart. I wouldn't trust ANYTHING electronic from Walmart on Black Friday, because sometimes they actually put out doletier models for sale at super cheap prices to bring in people.

@rarity yeah that's what i'm worried about. No point in wasting a gift card if the tablet will die quickly.
-
@pony Just spend it on food
-
@rarity and pony merch yup
-
@pony Look up reviews of the model
-
@pony you can't eat ponies
-
@nerthos looks like it's popular, but I can't find many reviews. I'd like to know it's cons
-
@rarity c'est vrais.
-
@pony that it is cons*
-
@pony Depending on what you want to do with it, it'll probably work fine for a few months, then quickly degenerate into a frustrating disappointment, as it's now 2 OS versions behind android main and will almost never receive a software update. It's basically super-budget Chinese reference hardware, so it's simply not going to last.
-
@ceruleanspark ah good to know I can spend my gift card on pony merch without missing anything worthwhile then.
-
@ceruleanspark thanks :)
-
@pony Both me and my assistant have had cheap tablets based on the same core reference design and they were both horrible, though his was at least hilarious, as the software hadn't quite been translated properly and made hilarious and outlandish claims about its abilities.
-
@ceruleanspark I suppose something to laugh at for $50 that's also semi-functional wouldn't be too bad, but I don't see RCA being that clever/humorously incompetent. Ah well.
