            1. @jamster Funny, just before Xmas I inquired about an i5-4670K and FX-8350 based computer ( both the same internally and having a 270X R9 video card ) ... Guess what processor I went with

              1. @critialcloudkicker FX-8350?

Wednesday, 01-Jan-14 19:38:50 UTC from web
                1. @jamster No, the I5-4670K because it is 53% faster in single threaded applications. and because it has AVX2 instructions ( Which I guess will be really neat in the future ) . And the power consumption is WAY lower ( per core ? ). However I would simply LOVE to put them side by side to see how it functions :) ... I am going to get my hands on that i5-4670K computer somewhere before the 2nd week of 2014 and have to install Windows 7 on it for my brother ( who bought the PC, technically )

                  1. @critialcloudkicker I would like to see how that turns out as well, all in due time I guess.

                    1. @jamster My computer just restarted out of the blue while I was browsing a site "how do geiger counters work" ... I guess it is about time for me to think about putting this old beast to rest. But seen as I bought this machine back when I still was going to school and could not afford downtime. It is simply the best :)

              2. @critialcloudkicker That GPU is known to be called the titan killer.

                1. @jamster Wait the 270X is known to be called the titan killer ? Then why does it score lower than the Titan on this website http://ur1.ca/gasom ?

Wednesday, 01-Jan-14 19:52:07 UTC from web
                  1. @critialcloudkicker Oh no I read that wrong I thought you said 290X.

Wednesday, 01-Jan-14 19:54:12 UTC from web
                    1. @jamster First off that thing scores lower than the Titan on this chart, not sure why. Second off even if I did have the money to buy a new computer I would fiddle with the loadout so much it would make my own head spin, I would probably want an i5-4670K though, as it seems to perform awesome and to boot I would be able to overclock that to my own leisure without going horribly outside of my price-comfort-zone. But for the video card... I have NO idea, I could get a GTX 780 for 449 Euro, or a 780 TI for 649 Euro, or a 290X but I would simply HAVE to change out that horrible horrible cooler on top of it. So eventually I guess I'd think "to hell with it" and buy a "good" price/performance card Like the 270X or the ... Why the hell am I unable to find a GTX 660 TI in this country ?

                      1. @critialcloudkicker You could always get a GPU with another cooler pre attached like a windforce.

                        1. @jamster I think I want to focus on getting replacement cooler for my old and trusty ATI HD 3870 first... Any idea where to start looking ?
