Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:32:06 UTC from web
    21. @snowcone So True. But, how do you know if You are acting like yourself. Surely acting like somepony-else is acting like yourself in acting as somepony-else, right....

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:32:29 UTC from web
    22. @snowcone And Morally, surely it should be allowed as isn't it unfair and prejudiced on Gay couples not to allow them to share the same happiness of getting married?

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:38:47 UTC from web
    23. @snowcone and many people here, or, at least I think so, value equality highly, and so surely it should be allowed from a moral perspective by most people in this country....

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:42:08 UTC from web
    24. @snowcone but surely these 'Social Norms' are just what has happened in the past. I'm pretty sure that slavery was the 'Social Norm' a couple hundred years ago, however, now, we see it as an abomination. Why could Gay Marriage not be the same?

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:45:33 UTC from web
      1. @sleumas2000 @snowcone Social norms, are both the most important thing to any society , they are what bind it together as a society itself. Without them, there wouldn't be a society at all.
But they are also the most oppressive thing to anyone who live outside them social norms. People who fall outside them our oppressed, (not though any malicious reasons but still sometimes violently) from the playground to their death bead. whether it be racism or homophobia.
These social norms have to change slowly because they are not the result of any one individual but of a emergent property of the society itself.

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:51:27 UTC from web
        1. @vcgriffin but surely, as belief in Equality is a 'Social Norm' now, it would be fine to change things quickly, as everyone believes in equality, and those that don't fall outside the social norm anyway (Not that I'm endorsing social norms. I'm not a massive fan of them, but then again, I wouldn't be because I fall right outside them in most possible ways, including choice of TV show..)

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:54:04 UTC from web
          1. @sleumas2000 That's subjective. Were it truly that an overwhelming majority endorses "equality" above social norms, this discussion wouldn't be happening.

    25. @snowcone It's too late for this man

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:45:57 UTC from web
    26. @snowcone fair point, I can't argue with that one.

Sunday, 06-Apr-14 08:48:05 UTC from web
    27. @snowcone Not that long ago, I was just like that, in fact I got so obsessed with it that I'd keep arguing even once I knew I'd lost. I'd go into debate mode, and then I'd end up papayasing off one of my friends, and so I stopped arguing as much.
