DHX/Hasbro needs to hire some fan artists to fix their designs.

@pony I'm just going to replace my memory of the designs with this.
-
@pony Aren't those pretty much the standard ones but with less saturated colors and smaller hair
-
@cinnamonswirl I dunno. I'm trying to forget the originals. I rememebr they had terribly oversized hair though yeah.
-
@pony Pretty much starry hooves and stripes in manes. Rainbow Dash got Goku hair.
-
@cinnamonswirl No wait. I remember the added highlights in their manes being solid colors and not actual rainbow gradients. Also, I think their hooves had much larger markings on them.
-
@cinnamonswirl lol oh yeah. I rememebr that now too.
-
@pony The markings were about the same size, but in violently contrasting colors, so they look much worse/bigger. It raises a question about changelings though. They have holes where the rainbow-power stars would be, does that make them the antithesis of Rainbow-Powered ponies?
-
@pony And it scrolled like a frigging neon sign
-
@cinnamonswirl Oh there's a fun possibility. So if a changeling reformed it would become whole basically.
-
@pony That's my thought. They'd probably still be shapeshifting bug ponies, but just...less evil ones.
-
@pony Plus more critically, it'd make the toys easier to make
-
@cinnamonswirl I was a little disappointed when I heard that some target audience girls actually liked the designs.
-
@pony Why wouldn't they? Little girls can like brash designs just as much as young boys can. Look at most superhero costumes.
-
@pony I guess it's like how store bought cupcakes are just as good to kids generally as creme brulee
-
@cinnamonswirl I could get on board with that. In the past I've hesitated to accept that changelings in their current state could become "good guys." Some outward change distinguishing them from the evil ones would make it work for me however.
-
@pony I presume that filling in the "holes in their hearts" would do away with their need to subsist on stolen love.
-
@cinnamonswirl True. Although I think part of that, in the case of super hero costumes, is that most of the ones that persisted til today came from a long time ago when bright colors weren't considered so out of style.
-
@pony I'm talking out of my plot though.. I have no clue really.
-
@cinnamonswirl Yeah. Totally.
-
@pony I think the brightness is symbolic. The world is largely pastel colored, and by virtue of being fully saturated, they stand out as exceptional.
-
@cinnamonswirl Seems legit.
-
@pony Well.. not /no/ clue.. I did take that history of costume class.
