@princelypublictimeline Is that important?
-
@thelastgherkin It makes sharing interests really hard I'd assume.
-
@thelastgherkin yes! If you saw the discussion we had, you'd understand why i feel so alone
-
@nerthos I dunno dude, the whole "sharing interests" thing always seemed more of the "you share with me things you like, I share with you things I like, and we create new shared interests together" more than "we have to align immediately".
-
@princelypublictimeline Yeah but, now you can explain the meanings behind wonderful things to her. That's what science is for, right?
-
@thelastgherkin she openly ridicules logic and reason as cold inhuman things, and is apprehensive about science probably due to media hype. You know the whole gmo's are bad therefore science destroys the world hyperbole, etc
-
@thelastgherkin give an example
-
@princelypublictimeline How are you in communication with the Middle Ages
-
@princelypublictimeline I'm not the scientist here. Explain aurora borealis or some murdock.
-
@thelastgherkin simple i live in america the most superstitious 1st world country
-
@thelastgherkin given the research most obeervable phenomena can be adequately explained. Now if she expects some special deep meaning in why something is, that's where the line is drawn. Yes hoey it's beautiful but it's not there solely to serve the personal destinies f human beings
-
@thelastgherkin spelling corrections - observable, and honey
-
@thelastgherkinthe natural world is wonderful and even moreso when we understand it. But people wanna look for meaning that isnt there, or some depraved people only find things wonderful if it wraps into some personal continuity of spirituality or philosophy. Then they think science is ugly because it is formal and well-practiced
-
@princelypublictimeline Yo that was lovely but none of it explained aurora borealis.
-
@thelastgherkin i was trying to tell you i could explain any natural phenomena you picked and the result would be the same: you'll either appreciate how it works or you wont. And some people go further and dont appreciate it for reasons ive mentioned
-
@princelypublictimeline Well I guess we'll never know now, will we.
-
@thelastgherkin Ions, carried on the solar wind are captured by earth's magnetic field, where they strike various atoms in the upper atmosphere. The energy released by these impacts manifests as visible light.
