    >gnome rolls a 2 on his d20, plus about another 9 or 10 from his skill bonus
    >gnome: "I start to say "I'm a lamp" to assist my disguise."
    >DM: "Oh, ffs. fine. Roll Bluff."
    >gnome gets a solid 12 to 15 total. not bad for level 3
    >guards come past
    >DM rolls their Spot & Sense Motive
    >DM laughs: mangoesing dammit. perfect.
    >Guard 1: "Hey what's that over in that nook?
    >Guard 2: "I don't know. I think it's a lamp."
    >Guard 3: "Yeah, it's a lamp."
    >Guard 1: "Oh, okay."
    >all of us: "...seriously?"
    >DM: "They all got Nat 1's, dudes. On both rolls."

      @critialcloudkicker My DM had handled it very differently. The gnome's trick wouldn't work in the end because guards, as normal people, aren't so stupid to not identify a lamp from a gnome.

        @broniebrown It's just a story I picked up. I really REALLY would like it if I were to find a basement somewhere to play D&D with a bunch of friends though.
