AHem... What is this "Hereditary Knowledge"? How is being your self proof enough? Does it also have to do with knowing thngs like the ending of a book? What is Evengelion like? What did Ellie mean when she said that people would evacuate the rich first? I don't think when in the hands of the grunts, they would follow the strict orders of saving JUST the rich. Is it OK to believe ones ideals Infallibel before giving them a shot? (no, But that doesn't mean it WON'T work, just, you have to try before syaing a definitive yes.) Merotocracy, it soudns weird, what does the prefix mean?

@metaltao Hereditary knowledge is a genetic predisposition towards an area of expertise. Generally when someone is born in a family with many generations of people skilled in the same area, said person also inherits that ability, and learning and working in that area is easy for them. That's why many important musicians come from families of artists, for example.

@nerthos But is it guarenteed? Like, even hereditary info can not always be passed, it can be mutated, lost, or just simply not passed down, like, you got the other half and not the dominant allele that is the gene that makes you more predisposed. (Sorry, I love asking!)
-
@nerthosOOO Hole on!
-
@nerthos The last part, can it also be atributed to the family just surrounding their kid with music that makes them more musically oriented? I mean, a family of musicians will be better at teaching a kid music than anything else, so, it makes sense that the kid would be a better musician.
-
@nerthos it's been disproved though hasn't it. The reason people find things like that easier is because they are raised around it.

@metaltao Hereditary knowledge has absolutely nothing to do with premonition or anything like that. Evangelion is an anime about a postapocalyptic future where the remains of humanity have pooled their resources into building big bio-robots to protect themselves from weird aliens. Ellie was talking about how money buys positions in any sort of important thing, and that you can buy your way into any evacuation program. Ideals aren't infallible, but theories can be proven through the study of history. Meritocracy means literally power based on merit. The more skilled and learned a person is, the higher that person goes in the hierarchy.
-
@bakasenpai THAT IS A VERY GOOD POINT! You get a cookie my friend! Now, let us wait for the rebuttle!
-
@metaltao No, it is not 100% guaranteed, but it's far more likely that a person will be talented in an area if his or her ancestors are also talented than if they aren't.
-
@metaltao Upbringing plays an important role in the skills and personality someone will have as an adult. Genetics only determine the caps and ease someone will have in each area, you then have to develop those skills through practice and study.
-
@nerthos But, like Baka said, (I heard about this before, it was some kind of "Psueoscience", I think.... OOO with a tad bit of reasearching, Just googling, I found it is still being looked into!)
-
@nerthos Does it though? I mean, hell, I just looked up some of this, it seems to not yet be a science.
-
@metaltao Almost any theory in this area will have supporters and detractors in the scientific community.

@nerthos Until Proven. Only the idiots will continue to say that it is wrong when it is right. And, when I was asking about the infallible idea, it had more to do with being humble and not letting your emotions control you during a debate.
-
@metaltao Oh, sure. If you let yourself be guided only by emotion and don't listen to reason you'll almost always sound like a fool.
-
@nerthos It has to do with being intimidating. I find intimidation unfair in debates. AND PONIES! (I am getting a bit bored, I can hold out a bit longer, you want to keep going?)
-
@metaltao Nah I'll go play Borderlands 2
-
@nerthos *waits*
-
@nerthos Why aren't you getting yiffed yet?
-
@metaltao because welcomepony is a badly programmed piece of kiwi
-
@metaltao Because the command interval got extended due to abuse
-
@nerthos What abuse?
-
@metaltao Triggering responses repeatedly
-
@nerthos Who did this?
-
@nerthos i didn't see that. Oh well I've never been big on the nature vs nurture thing. I always tend towards nurture though

@bakasenpai Honestly you need both if you want a truly great end product.
