            @northernnarwhal F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemmingway are my top choices but I already talk about them so much. George Orwell, Edgar Allen Poe, and Geoffrey Chaucer come to mind too. I wonder if Shakespeare counts. Or Arthur Miller. I also wonder if Cormac McCarthy can count as classic?

              @ellieellie I'd count as a classic but whether others will might depend. I did a LOT of work related to Poe last year, actually. He's very fun to study.

                @northernnarwhal Poe is wonderful. I haven't studied him as much as, say, Fitzgerald or Hemmingway, but he was a very interesting man. Also yeah I feel like at the /very/ least The Road is a classic.

                      @ellieellie Though in fairness Cormac's written a lot of other great books too. If you haven't read No Country for Old Men or Blood Meridian I highly recommend them. The Road is still his best though.

                          @northernnarwhal I'm also a fan of McCarthy's unique writing style. IT's a bit tedious at first but you get used to it.

                            @ellieellie It is, but it's really because he's building tension. His stories are very character driven and he takes his time fleshing things out in his novels to improve the immersion of the reader.
