          1. @critialcloudkicker Yeah, those are blueberries.

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:31:00 UTC from web
            1. @nethernarwhal Awesome. Although, making jam is argueably more fun than eating it. I made a red-fruit assortment jam from what was in the garden last week ( blueberries, raspberries, Japanese Juniper )

              1. @critialcloudkicker Yeah, hand squishing all the fruit is lots of fun. Jelly, on the other hand, requires more patience.

                1. @nethernarwhal Picking fruit is fun, sorting fruit is fun, mashing fruit is fun, boiling it into mush is fun, adding the jellyfieng sugar is also fun, and then the constant stirring, well every fun part has less fun parts right ? Kinda like having to wear socks before going outside

                  1. @critialcloudkicker Oh yeah, I know that, but I'm saying make jelly from pectin in fruits or vegetables where you also have to slowly strain the pulp after the initial heating.

        2. @nethernarwhal i wish i could find a blueberry somewhere

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:28:51 UTC from web
          1. @kumo They don't grow in Brazil?

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:31:11 UTC from web
            1. @nethernarwhal Not anywhere i've seen, at least

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:31:43 UTC from web
              1. @kumo That makes sense, according to the Wiki page they're native to North America http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blueberry And Brazil isn't one of the countries listed in the Southern Hemisphere section

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:33:58 UTC from web
                1. @nethernarwhal they're trying to produce it in the south, the weater is more subtropical than actually tropical, but they probably cant produce enough to send to the rest of the country

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:37:00 UTC from web
                  1. @kumo Yeah, I can imagine they'd need really good soil and consistent weather to introduce a foreign fruit and make it prosper.

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:42:47 UTC from web
                    1. @nethernarwhal They do not have to make it prosper really. All it takes are a few years of adjustment before the plants will take good root, and after that a couple of more years and there will be a brazillian born blueberry bush with "normal" fruit results. Problem is those pesky first few years

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:45:38 UTC from web
                      1. @critialcloudkicker Well, if it doesn't get past those first few years it doesn't prosper. That's what I was getting at, it's what prosper means.

Saturday, 18-Oct-14 14:46:05 UTC from web

            2. @nethernarwhal it seems there is only one state with low enough avarage temperature for the bluberry trees, and its productions is not much popular yet
