        @ceruleanspark They can be broken if the rifle falls in just the right way. My cousin's rifle became useless at long ranges after it fell on the ceramic/concrete floor of his house and the barrel iron sight broke irreparably.

        @ceruleanspark Iron sights work just fine. I placed a scope on the AR-15 that blocks the factory front sight post. The set of offset backup iron sights allows me to have a set of iron sights I can still use with that scope in place.
