                1. @awlditzy From what I know, he didn't really want to be pope. He's more of a theology academic than a people's priest. Current one didn't want to be pope either, but they were the two successors the pope who died left.

                    1. @awlditzy Basically when John Paul II died, he left Ratzinger and Bergoglio as his successors, but neither wanted the position. Ratzinger ended up taking it, but made Bergoglio accept that if he got voted next time he'd accept.
