    1. @mrdragon The correct way to use screen is to uninstall it and use tmux instead.

      1. @toksyuryel For what I need right now it works, once the servers done it'll go to it's own start up ways that I've found.

        1. @mrdragon http://me.veekun.com/blog/2012/03/21/tmux-is-sweet-as-heck/ (contains some minor instances of # language)

    2. @widget I got it, for some reason my keyboard had (in myeyes) turned in to some sort of weird porno language.

    3. @widget tmux is screen without the brain damage. It is not written in spaghetti code, its configuration syntax did not evolve on Mars, its default settings are actually sane, and it is not full of bugs. For a more thorough treatment, consult the link I provided earlier.

      1. @toksyuryel Also, it's actually still being developed. Whereas screen still doesn't have vertical (as in, "pane A | pane B") splitting unless you (or your distro) patch it.

        1. @bitshift Screen is in fact still under semi-active development by the handful of people that can actually read its code, and did recently obtain native support for vertical splits. This support is exceptionally buggy of course, but it does exist in vanilla now.

          1. @toksyuryel Oh, I didn't know that. Last time I checked, development had entirely halted.

    4. @widget It liked to crash randomly on me, and I would frequently get display corruption issues when attempting to actually use screen for its intended purpose of multiplexing instead of just as a nicklist for irssi.

    5. @widget Well that'll happen when you do that anywhere. It'd be nice if cat could give a warning about that like less does!

    6. @widget You should at least read that article to see what you're missing out on.
