I actually have nothing against The Eagles I just like quoting that film
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:28:22 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I just like how you called me a pleb for saying an Eagles album then a few years back you said a Beach Boys album
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:28:54 UTC from web-
@skyllie WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH HOLD THE PHONE. Are you actually implying Beach Boys are pleb?
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:30:02 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal They're exactly as pleb as the Eagles.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:30:23 UTC from web-
@skyllie Literally the worst opinion
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:30:40 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal You're wrong and you should feel wrong.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:31:01 UTC from web-
@skyllie The Beach Boys were ahead of their time. They revolutionized music, and music production, as we know it today. All those indie pop bands you love might as well be writing Brian Wilson royalty checks every damn month because he flipped the industry on it's freakin' head. They bridged the gap between artful pop music experimentation and commercial appeal, and wrote some of the most important music of their era. They, especially later in their career, defied genre and consistently challenged their fans with innovative yet idiosyncratic ideas. Without the Beach Boys music would most definitely NOT be the same.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:35:40 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal How dare you.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:36:02 UTC from web-
@skyllie Brian Wilson did more for pop music than Michael Jackson. Let that sink in.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:37:05 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal We are no longer on speaking terms.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:37:32 UTC from web-
@skyllie I stand by everything I've said.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:38:58 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Yeah I don't actually disagree I'm just Fluffle Puffing with you. You are still dead to me simply because I have to stand by my word.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:40:53 UTC from web-
@skyllie It's like the Eminem conversation all over again.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:41:26 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal It happens quite often honestly.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:41:42 UTC from web -
@northernnarwhal Tiff's words hurt though so he's still dead to me.

@northernnarwhal To be honest I only even said Hotel California because I couldn't think of any other albums from 1976
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:47:55 UTC from web-
@skyllie The Modern Lovers was an obvious pick for me from that year
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:49:14 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal My knowledge of music from that year in particular is incredibly sparse apparently. I mean, Songs in the Key of Life was that year, but that was never my favorite Steview Wonder album
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:50:20 UTC from web-
@skyllie I actually own a vinyl of Talking Book
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:51:33 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Which happens to be my favorite. That and Hotter than July. I even like Innervisions more than Key of Life.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:52:17 UTC from web-
@skyllie Hotter than July is great. I'm glad you have good taste in Stevie Wonder.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:53:43 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal It's an underrated album of his too. Everyone just raves about Key of Life, which isn't even a great album, just has a few super catchy songs.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:54:35 UTC from web-
@skyllie Yeah, I like Key of Life but it's far from his best, my favourite's always been Talking Book. It had his most eclectic instrumentation and songwriting.

@skyllie Also Station to Station came out in 76 Ellie, you should know better
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:51:55 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal I mean that's good but it's not my favorite Bowie album. Also I thought for sure that was 75.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:53:04 UTC from web-
@skyllie It was really early 76, recorded in 75 though.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:53:30 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Eh. Remembering numbers is hard.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:53:42 UTC from web-
@skyllie Young Americans came out in 75 though. I have that on vinyl and love it.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:54:49 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal 75 had a lot of great albums. Mothership Connection, that Elton John album with a name too long to bother typing, Blood on the Tracks, Wish you Were Here, Young Americans (which IS my favorite Bowie album), Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Rubycon... I could go on.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 01:58:43 UTC from web-
@skyllie Don't forget Another Green World, Tonight's the Night, Horses, One Size Fits All, and Man-Child. Also, Young Americans isn't my favourite Bowie record but I do love it a lot. It's really damn hard to pick a favourite but currently I'd say either Low or Scary Monsters.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:03:21 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Young Americans is my favorite, but really his entire discography is stellar.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:04:04 UTC from web-
@skyllie I assume when you say that we're both pretending Never Let Me Down doesn't exist.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:04:58 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal If I'm being completely honest I never actually listened to that one.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:05:45 UTC from web-
@skyllie It's really not that great, honestly better that you haven't. Tonight isn't that good either.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:06:16 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Eh. I thought Tonight was okay. Not really amazing but I liked it.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:06:45 UTC from web-
@skyllie It wasn't bad but it felt incredibly alienating, and a lot of the covers on it were pretty weak in my opinion too.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:09:22 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal My official opinion is that it's only bad in comparison to the rest of his career.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:09:54 UTC from web-
@skyllie Bowie at his worst is still interesting to listen to at least. His lyrics have always been consistent.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:12:16 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Like Modest Mouse
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:12:45 UTC from web-
@skyllie The lyrics were easily the best part of We Were Dead
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:13:16 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal Yeah. They were at least on par with the rest of Modest Mouse, and certain songs were still fantastic lyrically.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:13:51 UTC from web-
@skyllie It's just the music itself wasn't as exciting, interesting, or cutting edge as an album like Moon and Antarctica.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:15:07 UTC from web-
@northernnarwhal which is why it's their worst album, but still isn't a bad album.
Saturday, 24-Jan-15 02:16:20 UTC from web-
@skyllie Yeah We Were Dead is not bad by any means. But I wouldn't recommend it as an introduction to the band.

@skyllie This being said, with the exception of Pin Ups I'd say every album from 1970 to 1980 is absolutely essential.
