    1. @coltz Yeah French has a funny way of counting. Funny thing actually given today's date: If you want to say 80 in French you say quatre-vingt, which broken apart is "quatre" (which means 4) and "vingt" (which means 20) since 4x20=80. So if you were to literally translate the number 80 from French, you'd be saying "four twenty".

        2. @coltz You just said "fire the" (fire as in the noun fire). There isn't an exact translation for "blaze it" but "flamber ce" means "burn it" which is close enough.

        1. @awolditzy Do you have a distinct word for 90? In French it's "quatre-vingt-dix", with quatre being 4, vingt being 20, and dix being 10 (4x20+10=90). I know also for 70 we say "soixante-dix", where soixante is 60 (60+10=70).

          1. @northernnarwhal i believe it's zhzhuyaba which is like saying nine (zhwba) and ten (zhwaba), but could be wrong.

            1. @awolditzy That makes sense. Admittedly the French system is a little obtuse, especially when viewed from the frame of reference of a foreigner, though once you get it it's pretty east to pick up.

                1. @awolditzy I remember I had to learn how to count in Japanese back when I took karate, and it's actually really simple. 90 would be kyū-jū (where kyū means 9 and jū means 10, so 9x10=90). Actually for any multiple of 10 you just say [number]-jū.

                    1. @awolditzy I don't think I know how to count in any other languages, except Spanish, which my friend showed me once. If I recall correctly, there are distinct words for every multiple of ten where you use a prefix based on the root number and add a "ta" suffix, but I'm not 100% on all that.

                      1. @northernnarwhal kind of like Italian's "settanta"? I can't easily recall counting in Itslian past forty to be honest.

                        1. @awolditzy I think so, I'd have to refresh my Italian though so I'm not entirely sure.
