Oh. So this is how it's done:

@m14brony So nice! And cooL! WHAT IS!

@metaltao I have a couple of rolls of that film, but the covers I started making were a bit loose. That guy's technique is much better than the crude attempts I made.

@m14brony Archive all your guns!

@metaltao One can "archive" guns with cosmoline. I have purchased military surplus rifles that were successfully protected from rust for decades with it. Granted, removing it when you want to take the gun out of long-term storage is a laborious process.

@m14brony And here I was thinking of storing them in a vacuum chamber.

@m14bronyEXcuse em Wha?
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:34:15 UTC from web-
@metaltao It is a thick, waxy grease that can be used to cover metallic parts for long term storage to prevent rust (it won't eventually dry out like oil).

@m14brony I'VE SEEN THAT STUFF EVERYWHERE! Gosh darn! That makes things look super cool! I love it!

@metaltao It is an excellent preservative, and I have come to like the scent of it. Of course, as I said, it is a laborious process to remove it (for instance, back in 2007, I must have spent a couple of hours removing the cosmoline from a Yugoslavian M59/66 SKS).

@m14brony Make a Gun Library! DO IT!
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:26:00 UTC from web-
@metaltao Cabela's beat me to the punch when it comes to the use of the term "Gun Library."
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:31:29 UTC from web-
@m14brony "Yeah, I'd like to check out a couple .45s and. . . and a 12 gauge."
-
@scriba A fair deal of firearms in their library are overpriced. :P
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:34:13 UTC from web-
@m14brony No surprise, really.
-
@scriba Indeed. And I once had the misfortune to shop around there during an NRA recruiting event. Needless to say, I had no interest in joining the Republican front group that makes the rest of us gun owners look like a bunch of lunatics.
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:42:26 UTC from web-
@m14brony I almost got duped into that, myself.
-
@scriba Fortunately, I was already suspicious of them when I started getting into guns. Events continue to show that I made the right decision in avoiding them. It would probably be much harder for politicians to push anti-gun legislation without the NRA making us look bad.
Sunday, 31-May-15 06:54:49 UTC from web-
@m14brony It would probably also be easier if, instead of 100% anti-gun, they were more "pro-responsible/reasonable." Which, I guess, could be said of both sides, in the end.
-
@scriba I like the way the Swiss do things with their mandatory armament and training of sane, able bodied people (this is also coupled with a lack of a belligerent foreign policy that would get those people killed for the benefit of a tiny rich minority).
Sunday, 31-May-15 07:38:48 UTC from web-
@m14brony Boy, it seems like policy motivated by the good of the many does better for more people than the winner-take-all, cheat-to-win system does!
