              1. @renovatedkitchen depends on the game and person, I say yes, with 6 being the absolute best and 13 being the absolute worse

                                1. @scribus Oh. Sorry. I just take everything much to heart. Anything that could be taken a mean way I do. Got used to it :P

                                  1. @renovatedkitchen Sorry about that, I didn't know. For future reference, I'm quite frequently joking. Especially when I'm "insulting" in any way.

                          2. @renovatedkitchen depends on the game, FF1-3 were originally NES, but since got remakes on PS1, GBA, PSP & DS, 4-6 were on SNES and got PS1, GBA, 7-9 were PS1 with 7 & 8 also on PC, 10/10-2 - 12 were PS2, while 13/13-2 were PS3/360

                            1. @lyrica And once they went to the current consoles they started to suck?

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:11:46 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                              1. @renovatedkitchen they started sucking on PS2

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:12:26 UTC from web
                                1. @lyrica Personally, of the PS2 entries I only hated FF10 and FF10-2.

                                  1. @toksyuryel 10 at least had a decent battle engine, with the whole switching out party members mid battle, and controlling the summons was neat. 10-2 took the class system and make is amazing IMO, being able to switch midbattle

                            2. @lyrica Don't forget that 11 and 14 are both online, and both on PC + whichever PlayStation was current at their launch time.

                                2. @lyrica FF11 was actually quite good in the story and music department, which quite frankly are the only things that really matter in most FF games.

                                  1. @toksyuryel A good story? In an MMO? Now I'm intrigued as to how they made that actually work. :o

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:17:18 UTC from web
                                    1. @bitshift Quite simply, they had the story all but completely ignore the fact that other players exist.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:18:56 UTC from web
                                      1. @toksyuryel Huh. I would've thought that wouldn't work very well, but I guess it did?

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:20:20 UTC from web
                                        1. @bitshift It works extremely well, because as you would expect for a FF game the story is still presented as "talk to some people, go to this area, clear this dungeon, fight this boss, watch this cutscene, repeat with minor variations until you defeat the final boss"

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:21:52 UTC from web
                                        2. @bitshift The main thing it does different is make the dungeons and bosses hard enough that you'll want other players helping you, but NPCs and cutscenes only acknowledge you as though you were acting alone.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:23:25 UTC from web
                                          1. @toksyuryel Ah, okay. I suspect I'd find that jarring at first, but I suppose you get used to it.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 07:24:50 UTC from web
                                            1. @bitshift They cheat in some instances by giving you "companion NPCs" in the storyline that don't actually fight with you on the field but which in cutscenes are implied to have actually been fighting with you (although in a handful of battles they actually do fight with you), basically standing in for your party members. This style also avoids some awkwardness when you happen to be badass enough to solo everything such that the cutscenes do not imply that you had other players helping.
