So Oxide's plan in Crash Team Racing was to turn the entire Earth into a parking lot. So if you park your spaceship on Earth, which is in its entirety tarmac... where are you going to go? Park your ship on Earth and there is literally nothing to do there but see other parked ships. The nearest tourist attraction would be on the next planet over, like 300 million kilometres away, at which point you'd need to get back into your starship. Unless Oxide's plan was to set up some kind of park and ride, it seems like a huge wasted investment.
