So I thought I had a good idea for a story in which an omnipotent deity ran existence democratically according to its subjects, but then I realized it would basically just be a jerkass genie story on a universal scale.

@scribus I mean it could still possibly work as a thematic exploration of communal culture and leader-subject relationships among other things so I'd read it

@rarity More like people would be all "hurr durr this should be the way it is" and their god would make it so and they'd realize it's not all it's cracked up to be and stuff. Mostly I was thinking about all the American religious right types and what the world would be like if Jesus said, "Yeah, OK."

@scribus Yeah, in order for your genie story to really compellingly portray its central ideas you'd need a ton of requisite worldbuilding to establish the political landscape of your story
