There's also The Hypocrite: health food and cigarettes together.

@redenchilada I love The Quest NPC: having to physically walk people to the fish products because apparently a massive sign reading "SEAFOOD" in all caps isn't telling enough of where it is for them

@nightmarenarwhal That's actually cool though. It's an excuse to stop doing actual work for a few minutes. That's the reason I wish people would do more propane exchanges.

@redenchilada Except that if I don't get a certain amount of work done within a certain time frame I get in trouble with my boss- having to help customers (though technically part of my job) actually inhibits my work.

@nightmarenarwhal I suppose that makes me lucky to just be a plebeian bagger. As long as I'm doing something useful nobody's holding a quota over me. I'd hate to have to manage IPMs.

@redenchilada Yeah, and it doesn't help that we've fired a ton of part-timers lately and have a ton of newly hired employees that I technically have seniority over so now I have to take responsibility for their quotas too. It's stressful to say the least.

@nightmarenarwhal New employees are the best, at least as a customer. As they're slower, you can strike conversation and make shopping a bit more interesting.

@nerthos One good way to tell if someone's a new employee at the grocery store I work at is to check whether or not they're wearing a name tag. No one in management cares about them so no one actually wears them except the new employees who don't know better.

@nightmarenarwhal I always tell by how many times they have to run the barcode through the reader.

@nerthos Yeah, it's more obvious if they're a cashier
