    I never realised I can mute the sound of media playing within a tab in Firefox/Iceweasel by clicking on the speaker symbol of the tab.

      I learned 2 things today, firstly I have so much tabs open that it obscures the speaker symbol on the tab. And that this is not Firefox.

      @adiwan It's a new feature, it was added a few versions ago. Chrome has the same thing as well.

        @socialistgeek I have Chromium (version 48) installed and it can't mute the tab's audio by clicking on the speaker symbol.
