Oh boy. The EPROM (with UV erase window) of the bootleg game has nasty molten edges. It's a wonder the chip works. Also there is a piece of paper under the save battery...

@adiwan Nothing wrong with a little bit of paper to fill up a gap... Unless if it is used as a resistor of some sort.

@critialcloudkicker I removed the paper and I saw that there were some small components directly below that battery. So I think that this piece of paper is an integral part.

@adiwan How about the nasty molten edges of the EPROM ? Shoddy craftsmanship or did it melt under your care at one day ?

@adiwan Oh-hoh-hoh, that is rich :) And way cooler than looking at my the pictures of my boss's newborn ( oh he is so proud ) ... I guess that settles it though, I am a huge nerd.

@adiwan Which has changed my boss into a slightly more serious and way less enjoyable self. Probably because changing your life's routine to fit in "look at/after/before and act upon - baby"
