Someone IRL just told me that "retarded" is now a banned word. ... Really ? That sounds retarded.
-
@critialcloudkicker that's pretty damn retarded, I recommend you be as condescending to this creature as you possibly can

@zennx I know a few cretins who would pass it on as thruth the moment they hear it, yes. I'll use small words when they open their filthy mouth. However, no need to do that today, it was brought to me like "Did you hear that they banned a word ?". I'm glad this turned to a polite conversation and not a "small word showcase" :)

@critialcloudkicker Under what authority is the word banned?

@critialcloudkicker Banned, where?
-
@hfaust @m14brony the only sourses I can find on this is an old 2012 article about regarding "banning the word retarded" in medical(field/expertise) textbooks. But my internet&google-fu are severely retarded when on a mobile phone.
-
@critialcloudkicker Not authoritative measure yet, but apparently there was a campaign on twitter to ban the word. And as usual, using social media to "raise awareness" of petty issue like banning words, it went without any success.
-
@hfaust Hmm, that is a common thing ? I've actually only heard about "ban bossy", you mean to say that was not a new concept ?
-
-
@hfaust Any more examples that are commonly known ?
-
@critialcloudkicker Not a public affair but private, Github threatened to close a popular software project "Webm for Retards" if they didn't change the name https://github.com/nixxquality/WebMConverter/commit/c1ac0baac06fa7175677a4a1bf65860a84708d67
-
@hfaust I hope they FrankerZing migrated to GitLab instance
-
@hfaust oh wow. But no, I meant to ask if there are/were any more words ever given up for the banwagon. I only know of 2.
-
@critialcloudkicker I didn't found another word, mostly college campaigns to ban words, but I consider it an universe apart from campaigns like the bossy one.

@critialcloudkicker That's simply a change in diagnostic description and such. It isn't some sort of real-life blanket ban or whatever that person seemed to imply.
