My quick FCBD 2016 review: The Korra comic was pretty darn good and delightful. 100% recommendable. I can't say that about "ROM Spaceknight" or "Boom Studios 2016 Summer Blast". ROM was too short to say anything about it, as well the featurette in the Boom Studios Summer Blast. I got it because of the "exclusive" Adventure Time part. It was OK. Archie was neat but I came to the conclusion that I'm not into highschool romance stories. Despite of that it's good, especially in the art department. It's super cool that my comic shop doesn't care about the US Free Comic Book Day and send the comics anyway with the current shipment.

@adiwan I am fascinated and interested by ROM. It has the capacity to be one of those Kirby cosmic comics we don't really get any more.

@thelastgherkin All ROM did was to show up and blast a Dire Wraith into oblivion. This #0 didn't have much substance, understandable but also sad in a way. The other half of the comic consists of ads for other IDW stuff and a few pages of ROM concept art.

@adiwan Yeah, it doesn't surprise me they don't properly start the story with a FCBD issue zero.

@colfax The original run started in December 1979 and ended in February 1986. @colfax The sources I know say that the comic series was good and in some sort essential for the Marvel Universe with setting up the Secret Wars event. I can't judge the quality of that. I own only a few issues that I grabbed for cheap off ebay.

@colfax True. The reviewer in the videos I linked to enjoyed the series very much. That said: tastes differ a lot. I quite enjoyed Daredevil by Mark Waid until it was relaunched recently with a different writer and artist.

@adiwan Hells, they could have used Howard the Duck to kick off the secret wars and it, in the long run, wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

@colfax I totally get that. I have also some guilty pleasures. I saw plenty of bad shark and creature feature movies with friends in the past.
