  1. Sean Connery does not make a convincing Japanese man at all.

    1. @scribus You should see George Lazenby trying to be gay.

      1. @thelastgherkin If you're referring to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," it's been a while.

        1. @scribus I am indeed. Bond imitating Sir Hilary Bray is certainly... something.

          1. @thelastgherkin It was an interesting entry on a lot of levels.

            1. @scribus We had all the time in the world. ;_;

        2. @scribus You're a cool dude. Agree with me when I say that Bond is a Time Lord with Daniel Craig as his first incarnation, before he goes back in time to become Sean Connery and creates a parallel timeline in which he's been there since the 60s. Also his name is the Bachelor, since a bachelors is the other kind of degree that you can get that isn't a doctorate or a masters. AGREE WITH ME

          1. @thelastgherkin Sounds good to me! I was just leaning on the Connery-Lazenby-Connery sequence to suggest Connery had traveled forward for the time-travel requirement, you've got it much better reasoned.

            1. @scribus Yes, that time travel bit is also part of it. I'm still trying to reconcile the original Casino Royale into it.

              1. @thelastgherkin The non-Eon farce?

Tuesday, 26-Jun-12 22:17:47 UTC from web
                1. @scribus That's the one. The non-Eon non-farce Never Say Never Again also fits in, provided it's Sean Connery's last outing and he goes back in time to be George Lazenby by the end of it.

                  2. @thelastgherkin Fascinating.... One of these days... wait, no, several of these days I ought to sit down and watch them all in order.

                    1. @scribus Actually, there's a hole in this plan. Diamonds Are Forever opens with Bond killing Blofeld, the implicit reason being for what he did to Mrs Bond. Thus he had to revert from George Lazenby back into Sean Connery somehow.

                      1. @thelastgherkin I've been thinking on this one since I woke up, and while I'm confident there's some solution, I can't puzzle it out -- quite yet. #

                        1. @scribus I'm thinking mind transference, temporary cosmetic surgery, temporary non-cosmetic appearance change, unstable regeneration, an extra regeneration from Lazenby back into Connery, Lazenby being a different person (doubtful), or a tiny Bond in a Bond suit. And that's just for starters.

Wednesday, 27-Jun-12 17:29:10 UTC from web
                          1. @thelastgherkin I was thinking either that there might have been two separate Connery-esque incarnations by strange coincidence, or that Lazenby went back and told Connery so Connery came forward to catch Blofeld unaware. But then, I had just woken up at the time.

Wednesday, 27-Jun-12 17:30:59 UTC from web
                            1. @scribus Maybe Lazenby had a premonition that he was going undercover as Bray so he changed his face well beforehand. Or Connery is controlling a Lazenby-ganger. Or there was a biological metacrisis.

Wednesday, 27-Jun-12 17:34:34 UTC from web
                              1. @thelastgherkin Lazenby was never a separate incarnation but a makeup effect?

                                1. @scribus Or he's a Watcher, or a thing like Cho Je. A manifestation of an upcoming incarnation that hasn't quite happened yet.

                                        1. @scribus Cho Je was a dude who hung around and assisted a Time Lord Buddhist monk named K'anpo Rimpoche in "Planet of the Spiders". Sooner or later we found out that he was only a projection of K'anpo's next incarnation given sentience by K'anpo mentally. When K'anpo died, Cho Je faded away, and then K'anpo was Cho Je.

                                            1. @scribus That analogy falls down about when compared to Bond, though, since Lazenby only did one film.
