  1. I ordered a pair of XBox One thumb sticks in order to repair my XBox 360 controller. To my surprise the right thumb stick on the 360 controller is closer to the potentiometers and the XBox One thumb stick scrapes on them slightly but very noticeable. http://i.imgur.com/R9MAe5W.jpg It looks weird now with these mismatching thumb sticks.

    1. @adiwan you'll get used to it lad

My xbox 360 controller (which I use for PC gaming) has fallen victim to the batcaveing "cord is slightly detached so the controller wont connect unless I hold it in a very certain way" thing that all corded controllers are so prone to

      1. @vriska If you are a little bit crafty you could try to replace the cable with an ordinary USB cable. I'd be cool to fill the hole in the controller where the cable comes out with a micro USB port and connect with any micro USB cable you have around (or mini USB).

          1. @vriska @adiwan Is the USB cable usually detachable?  I've never owned an Xbox.

MicroUSB and similar have terrible durability.  I usually end up slightly crimping on the cable end so it bites down harder after a while.  A pair of needle-nose pliers does the job.

            1. @takebatcaveakenji @adiwan on the 360 wired controller its a pretty common and well documented problem that the cord comes loose and is a royal pain to fix. It's designed to be detachable.

              1. @vriska @adiwan At least you won't need to solder it…unless you want to crack open the controller and make it no longer detachable.

                1. @takecherryakenji @vriska Yeah. You have to open the controller to detach the cable. Since it's an ordinary USB cable that is lead out it's an easy fix using an ordinary cheap USB cable to fix the controller. It won't look nice because the rubber protection won't be there and thus leave a big hole where the cable comes out. At least it'll work again.

            2. @takeFrankerZakenji @adiwan @vriska I adjust the contact tongues in my phones slightly from time to time. I wonder when they'll finally break.

              1. @clacke @adiwan @vriska It's better to do it to the cable.  If the cable stops being usable after enough of that, then you can get a new one for cheap.

                1. @takebananaakenji @adiwan @vriska Hadn't even considered it. But if you say that it works for you, then I'll consider it next time. Thanks!

    2. @adiwan Update: I opened again and stuffed small snippets of paper into the thumb stick hole in order to lift it a few millimeters. It's fantastic now. I feel stupid for not thinking about it earlier.
