      @enfy Theoretically, that was Nightmare Moon's castle from 1000 years ago. Celestia has the one in Canterlot, while Nightmare Moon had the one in the Everfree Forest. When Nightmare Moon was imprisoned, nopony bothered to maintain the castle and it fell into ruin. The Elements of Harmony were still there because that's where Celestia used them to banish Nightmare Moon. Of course, I'm completely making all this up on the fly! #WordOfGherkin

                              @pony I just liked the idea of Celestia in Canterlot and Nightmare Moon in Everfree; one in an ivory castle and one in ebony, the Two Towers at war with each other using armies of chess piece ponies.
