Thursday, 12-Jul-12 19:40:54 UTC from web-
@techdisk42 Did you just get Skyrim?
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 19:59:25 UTC from web -
@techdisk42 The steam version? Ew xD
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:01:03 UTC from web-
@nerthos what's wrong with Steam version?
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:03:17 UTC from web-
@lyrica Well, it has Steam.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:12:42 UTC from web-
@nerthos and what's wrong with steam?
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:12:56 UTC from web-
@lyrica What's /not/ wrong with Steam.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:13:40 UTC from web-
@nerthos nothing is wrong with steam :/
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:14:26 UTC from web-
@lyrica Everything is wrong with Steam. From not letting you play without it running, to the stupid amount of time it adds to open games.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:16:12 UTC from web-
@nerthos minor
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:16:57 UTC from web-
@lyrica Minor? Come on, I have to find cracks to be able to play Steam games without the program being annoying and trying to control what I do. Cracks. For legit games.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:18:03 UTC from web-
@nerthos again, minor
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:20:12 UTC from web-
@lyrica That's not minor at all. The gaming experience of a legit game should be superior to the experience of a pirated game. With things like Steam, there's no point on buying games, since the pirated alternative is better in every way.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:21:31 UTC from web-
@nerthos at least steam is still the best way to buy PC games
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:23:52 UTC from web-
@lyrica >pc games =(
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:24:12 UTC from web -
@lyrica Implying that buying AND THEN having to wait for it to download is in any way superior to just walking to a store or ordering a DVD copy.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:25:19 UTC from web-
@nerthos Because you can do it from home instead of having to head out to a store, which may be far away?
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:25:53 UTC from web-
@redenchilada >Ordering it. Lots of stores send you the games home if you ask them.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:26:48 UTC from web-
@nerthos Then you have to wait for it to ship. Plus, they have to have it in stock.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:29:14 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Yeah, but they usually take one or two days, and you can pay with cash.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:31:51 UTC from web-
@nerthos Steam takes minutes to download, maybe hours, and I haven't heard of any method of cash payment that doesn't involve going to the store.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:39:19 UTC from web-
@redenchilada debit is a cash payment that doesn't have to involve going to the store
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:39:55 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel I think nerth is referring to "handing physical cash to someone".
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:40:56 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Well, there's bitcoins but hardly anyone accepts those still.

@redenchilada I don't know the english name for it, but with mail or delivery there's usually the option to pay when they handle the item to you.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:42:31 UTC from web-
@nerthos they don't do that over here anymore
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:42:54 UTC from web-
@lyrica Well, that place must suck xD
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:43:32 UTC from web

@nerthos it used to be called Cash on Delivery, or CoD

@nerthos it is, better sales, and download still takes the same amount of time as going to a store, and hoping said store has the game, then going home, and then installing it
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:27:13 UTC from web-
@lyrica Even if the download were instant, the game would still be infected by the Steam platform all over it. It takes the same amount of time to download a cracked version, for free.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:28:45 UTC from web-
@nerthos debatable. I personally have NO issue with Steam
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:29:19 UTC from web-
@lyrica Oh well. If you liken it, have it your way.

@nerthos "Infected" by automatic updates, achievements, and the community. All of which are arguably unneeded, yes, but all of which can be turned off.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:30:09 UTC from web-
@redenchilada You can't just create an executable to skip the whole Steam loading. You need to find a crack for that.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:31:06 UTC from web-
@nerthos What's so bad about Steam anyway?
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:38:30 UTC from web-
@redenchilada I don't know. I find a program that forces itself to run whenever you want to play a game awful. I wouldn't have a problem with it if I could just buy games there, download them, and unbind them from the whole platform. Like with Good old Games.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:40:20 UTC from web-
@nerthos Eh, I suppose. It's got enough advantages to where I don't mind it, personally, but some might benefit from it.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:41:38 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Yeah, it's about what you like or expect from the service. I personally buy games just to avoid downloading them, or because I find a retail copy somewhere of a game I love.
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:44:44 UTC from web-
@nerthos problem is most retail games have so much DRM it's not funny
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:45:27 UTC from web-
@lyrica I literally never bought a game with annoying DRM. And it can be cracked anyway xD
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:46:30 UTC from web-
@nerthos perhaps
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 20:47:22 UTC from web-
@lyrica As I said, it's all about what you expect from what you buy. I consider having to run a program to play a game I bought the same than buying a knife and being only able to use it with the guy who sells them holding my hand.
