How do you hate someone for using an operating system. 0-0

@marsh It's notjust that they dislike it, just the way they present themselves. Their approach toward promoting it.
-
@abigpony Honestly why would anyone care. If someone came up to me and said OSX is better than windows. Id be like thats nice my fridge shoots out water.
-
@marsh 1) The OSX/windows debate I don't care about. They do essentially the same thing at this point and for most people.
-
@abigpony Any OS I shouldve said. :L
-
@marsh OSX/windows are close enough and work similarly enough for casual use not to be an issue to regular people. I see no reason why Linux is popular nor a reasoning why it's users are such d*cksacks about Linux master race compared to other OS's. I honestly know very little about Linux, but the people who use really rustle my jimmies.
-
@abigpony The fact that they use it or they talk about using it?
-
@abigpony Linux is the poor man's OS. I like it for that reason, but otherwise Windows has really outdone it nowadays. I don't know much about macs
-
@pony but why get Linux when the world runs on Windows and OSX?
-
@abigpony beside games, I have yet to find a productivity program on windows that has no equivalent on linux. Even companies with heavy computer needs like Pixar use linux
-
@pony I know most game developers run Mac, but that's it as far as my knowledge on large companies and stuff. Where's the compatibility of Linux. What's so much better than windows or OSX?
-
@abigpony it's the freedom to use all the software for free and loose very little if no productivity. That's all I can think of that the common linux company want's linux for. Linux doesn't do more. It just does most of what windows does for free except games
-
@pony Congratulations, not every person is a company, so where's a use outside of a purely business setting?
-
@pony *cough* torrent
-
@abigpony I use it for things that windows can't do on occasion like downloading the complete safe ponibooru torrent. Also, as a programmer I find it fun and liberating to have added control over the OS that windows makes difficult. That's just me though. I actually don't use it much otherwise since I still feel windows is superior in most ways for life in general

@renovatedkitchen lol exactly

@pony There are add-ons for that, y'know. I believe Chrome and Firefox.
-
@abigpony normal torrents are fine in windows. The one I mentioned wouldn't run on 5 different clients that I installed in windows, but runs fine on linux

@pony Sounds like a personal problem
-
@abigpony xP lol. I know I'm not the only one who can't get it to work on windows. @minti tried as well, and there's a message on the ponibooru torrent link page that explains a special client is required. Normally Transmission QT might have worked in Windows (which, incidentally, like linux, is open source and free), but still it failed. Transmission in linux works fine though.
-
@pony Eh. I was just generally thinking of, like, a chrome add-on or something. There are multiple ways of going about doing this.
-
@abigpony hmm.. I'd love to find a way to download that particular torrent in windows, but I got tired of trying. Installing linux was easier and faster.
-
@pony *pfft* whatever. At least you aren't an annoying Linux user.
