    1. @vampixxkitty That's too bad, I'm curious as to why?

      1. @jla not many gaming options. It's pretty horrible when it comes to playing games + i'm getting a new laptop. ^^

        1. @vampixxkitty OK, I'm comfortable with not playing Windows games and proprietary and/or DRM employing games.

          1. @jla what's good use of a laptop if you can't even do anything on linux? You can do almost nothing on linux. there is barely anything supported for it... i tested my theory and i was right about linux. I detest it so far. it was fun to use but at the same time, it kept freezing for long periods of time...so no go for me. I'm sticking to windows 7 which is compatible with many things....

            1. @vampixxkitty What distro did you use?

Wednesday, 25-Jul-12 01:29:05 UTC from web
              1. @eaglehooves i used ubuntu 12.04

                1. @vampixxkitty I don't like Ubuntu personally, but there should be no lack of software. I've got Mint 13 on one of my laptops, and it's great.

                  1. @eaglehooves i tried mint but the cursor froze on me. regardless, it doesn't matter. i'm getting a new laptop and it's better. this new laptop has better RAM. my current laptop has 959 MB of RAM while the one my friend is selling me has 4 GB of RAM.... lol.

                    1. @vampixxkitty Sounds like a driver issue. My laptop needs a few no matter what I install.

Wednesday, 25-Jul-12 01:37:52 UTC from web
                      1. @eaglehooves not a driver issue. it's because my laptop is crap and i have alot of useless programs installed. it's also an old laptop anyway... >.> it's like 5 years old. ;-;

                        1. @vampixxkitty Usually that's the cause of cursor bugs. Linux freezes and Windows jumps like Pinkie on caffeine without the official driver on mine (generics suck).

            2. @vampixxkitty I worked in Win7 once with !zsh, screen and !emacs in !Cygwin, it's not terrible but not ideal either.

              1. @jla you make it sound like as if i actually know what you're even telling me.... i really don't what you're saying nor does it matter at the moment...it's about computer deviant things i would assume (which isn't my field of interest...) and i'm hungies.... ;-; ugghhh...

            3. @vampixxkitty But my main reason for using !gnulinux is software freedom. http://en.windows7sins.org/

        2. @vampixxkitty But my ATI card requires non-free firmware for 2D, 3D acceleration, I'm planning to get a Intel HD 4000 based system sometime.

          Wednesday, 25-Jul-12 00:00:00 UTC from identi.ca
          1. @jla I use an ATI HD6570 card with the free drivers and the only non-free thing I needed was S3TC.

            1. @toksyuryel Are we getting into this whole thing again? Sure I'd love it if everything is free and whatnot, but at the end of the day, I still need stuff that works.

              1. @eaglehooves I need stuff that works too- that's why I use it.

              2. @eaglehooves For me technical features are irrelevant.

              3. @eaglehooves But I'm not getting involved in who should use what OS here, I'm just correcting an inaccurate statement about mine.

                1. @toksyuryel I've multi-booted everything, and my opinion is to run whatever your good with. Trying to show Linux to a non computer person was one of the more painful things I've done.

Wednesday, 25-Jul-12 02:14:53 UTC from web
                  1. @eaglehooves I already told you that I'm not getting involved in who should use what OS, what more do you want from me? In this conversation I am not going to renounce mine or tell people they should use a different one any more than I am going to tell them to use mine.

                    1. @toksyuryel Someone (not you) was trying to push Linux on someone who didn't sound ready. I was just throwing in my two bits.

                      1. @eaglehooves Throw them at that person please, not at me.

                        1. @toksyuryel Sorry about that then. With them not showing in our feed, it's a little confusing (having 3 browsers for 40+ tabs doesn't help).

                          1. @eaglehooves 1) they show up in the "in context", 2) tab groups are awesome

                            1. @toksyuryel I found him now. My internet is just running faster than my brain tonight.

            2. @toksyuryel I confirmed on !Trisquel IRC that !linuxlibre does not include the firmware needed and it falls back on software rasterizer.

        3. @vampixxkitty Bastion, Minecraft, Amnesia, Spacechem, Warzone2100, etc etc all have native Linux versions.

          1. @toksyuryel yet unfortunately the games I happen to play don't have a linux version. :u

          2. @toksyuryel I'm surprised you didn't put SK on that list, considering your addiction to it.

            1. @redenchilada Eh, it comes and it goes. Right now I'm into it because I managed to get a bunch of people here playing it so I don't have to be all alone in it, but who knows how long that's going to last.

    2. @widget EXACTLY! I know people who paid $120 for a nVidia NVS in their laptop, but use Intel HD graphics on principle.

    3. I love how ubuntu and mint are the only distros mentioned in a thread about "Linux" in the Trisquel group. At least summer is nice outside.
