  1. I'm actually worried about the WiiU Majora's Mask. The world of possibilities that next-gen technology brings also risks ruining what made the game great in the first place. With modern graphics, I don't think it will be as immersive as it was in it's era.

    1. @nerthos MM is getting a WiiU remake?? Haven't been keeping up with WiiU news... is this 100% confirmed?

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:34:13 UTC from web
      1. @ecmc It's the major appeal for the WiiU right now. Lots of people are going to buy it specifically to play MM.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:35:03 UTC from web
        1. @nerthos It will certainly be interesting to see. I am actually looking forward to the WiiU even more now that I know there is at least one Zelda game confirmed. I'll just hope they don't force you to use the snazzy new controller tech for everything.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:39:34 UTC from web
          1. @ecmc I don't think they'll try to force the new controller on everything. That's proven to be commercial suicide.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:46:02 UTC from web
    2. @nerthos That was fake, I think.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:35:47 UTC from web
      1. @thelastgherkin As far as I know it was real. Still, that's the only reason I would buy a WiiU, so let's hope it's real.

        1. @nerthos i'd totally buy a wiiu if they made a pokemon snap 2

          1. @thelastgherkin This is saddening... we can still dream though :(

          2. @thelastgherkin :C well, it's one less thing to worry about, and one less console I'll buy to then barely touch.

    3. @nerthos Part of me is thinking that these re-releases are getting a bit stupid. Yes, it's money for the publishers and yes, the user can relive nostalgia with updated graphics. But the amount we're getting/got is a bit absurd.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:36:43 UTC from web
      1. @scribble You don't HAVE to buy them.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:37:58 UTC from web
        1. @thelastgherkin I know, but it's just a bit silly how many there are. The collections are fine, but single re-releases are getting a bit silly.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:39:20 UTC from web
          1. @scribble Some games did not age well at all, i'm fine with the re-releases as long as they are actual remakes, and not just PS3 collection garbage. THPS HD is my idea of what these re-releases should be, cause it makes the old games accessible to people who never got to play the originals, but it stays true to it's roots. PS2 Collections need to stop being churned out effortlessly though >.<

            1. @cavatina not all are reffortless though, the Sly Collection for instance upgraded a lot of the visuals

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:43:13 UTC from web
              1. @lyrica Yeah, but take a look at some of the others and you just think "So what you did was bump up the internal resolution, and sold it again".

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:45:30 UTC from web
            2. @cavatina As much as it pains me to say this, the Dreamcast re-releases have been kind of bleh, mostly because they have be litteraly ported. No noticeable graphic upgrades.

              1. @scribble They were effortless drivel. I could get the EXACT same experience by emulating them :/. Imagine if Sonic Adventure DX got remade in the Hedgehog Engine!

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:44:34 UTC from web
                1. @cavatina If they did that, it'd only work on Xbox 360. xD

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:45:09 UTC from web
                  1. @scribble haha xD

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:46:40 UTC from web
                2. @cavatina remember, the Hedgehog Engine is ONLY a graphics engine, a not of people claim it's a gameplay engine too

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:45:14 UTC from web
                  1. @lyrica ...i did not know that! But still, even with the new graphics engine, i'd not regret buying Sonic Adventure on the xbox

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:46:17 UTC from web
                    1. @cavatina I agree, before Ponies, I was diehard Sonic fan, so I fully understand

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:48:24 UTC from web
                      1. @lyrica Yeah, me too. For me,THPS HD is my perfect remake. It's just a massive upgrade to the original games in everywhere but the core gameplay, which is the same. Sadly, it also shows that the formula the games used until they died in 2007 really isnt that good anymore.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:49:40 UTC from web
                        1. @cavatina yeah. Problem is, more often than not, the effort needed for those kind of remakes, just don't support the amount of sales they get. Main reason Square claims they havn't remade FF7, though we know the true reason is, they'd ruin it like all their newer games

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:51:07 UTC from web
                          1. @lyrica yeah. the reason they claim is they need a game to outsell it xD

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:53:52 UTC from web
                            1. @cavatina FFXIII ruined Square for me IMO

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:56:43 UTC from web
                                1. @lyrica Oh? They're doing it again? I remember a finished version of the game engine from like, 6 years ago.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:58:05 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos they are re-releasing FF7PC as if it was the first time, with DLC you buy to level yourself up without the work!

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:59:11 UTC from web

                                    2. @lyrica I mean, in FFVII you didn't even need to grind to keep up with the bosses.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:00:52 UTC from web
          2. @scribble Only thing the re-released collections have is the game runs at 1080p and has trophies...If they actually remade the games they re-release, i doubt you'd be complaining. I imagine you'd dart at the chance to have Sonic 1-3K remade with HD sprites, but frown at re-releasing the games in an emulato- oh they arleady did that...

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:43:20 UTC from web
      2. @scribble I have mixed feelings about the whole issue. It's true that better graphics can be nice, but there's at least IMO an era that is better left with the original graphics. Atari to 16-bit games, and PS2+ games are better with newer graphics, but N64 and 2.5D games I find far more immersive than new ones. The last time I really felt kind of scared by a game, my mind being tricked into believing the game to be somewhat real, was with late '90s technology. After that, the graphic beauty just made everything less realistic. I can't get immersed by new games anymore due to graphics. HL2 was the last one that made things look more realistic, instead of overdone.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:45:10 UTC from web
        1. @nerthos To me, graphics are the last thing I care about. Gameplay, then longevity, then story, then multiplayer, THEN graphics is the way I look at a game, in order of importance.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:47:31 UTC from web
          1. @scribble Same, which is why i like THPS HD...they got everything as identical to the originals as they can, and then basically removed most of the bugs!, then they made it pretty.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:48:11 UTC from web
          2. @scribble I like graphics, but I don't like them overdone. DMC4 had the perfect balance between detail and realism. "Tech demo" games look overdone to the point at which everything looks fake. I would put those in the following order: Gameplay=story>longevity>graphics>multiplayer; because usually when the companies focus on multiplayer they end up making the single player mode worse.

            1. @nerthos @nerthos i think KH2 had good enough graphs

              1. @mushi I don't touch Kingdom Hearts. Not even with a stick. That saga is for me like a drawing of Alah to a muslim.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:52:25 UTC from web
            2. @nerthos When it comes to multiplayer, I'm not overly fussed, but when it comes to FPSs, if they have a meh singleplayer and/or meh multiplayer, then I probably won't enjoy it that much. If it has great single player or multiplayer, then I might enjoy it.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 16:59:25 UTC from web
              1. @scribble I simply stay clear of multiplayer FPS. The only ones I kind of like are Nuclear Dawn, for it's commander mode, and Killing Floor, because it's cooperative survival.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:01:38 UTC from web
                1. @nerthos Killing Floor is great and the F2P ones on Steam are pretty good too, but games like Homefront really should've been better then they were.

                  1. @scribble It's because the general FPS market has NO EXPECTATIONS anymore. Planetside 2 and Natural Selection 2 will change that. #

                  2. @scribble I never played Homefront. The main reason I don't like multiplayer games is balance. Since the times of MU online and Lineage 2, they just tie your hands so you can't be stronger than everyone else. In Lineage 2 for example, you could build up a character, conquer castles, and basically rule over the entire server if you were good enough playing.

                    1. @nerthos Homefront was alright, but the singleplayer was pretty bad. Multiplayer was pretty good, but couldn't hold the game up. It's a similar problem Dead Island had, only a bit worse.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:06:51 UTC from web
                      1. @scribble A multiplayer FPS I actually liked was the first Battlefield. I don't even know how the new Battlefield games are, but the original one was great.

                          1. @scribble To be completely honest, I never played any of the Call of Duty games. The first one was too short, so I didn't download it, and never again tought about that game.

                            1. @nerthos They were good, they started to get samey after CoD4 (not including it), and for many people, the next game will seal the fate of the series.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:12:56 UTC from web
                              1. @cavatina Guess I'll have to try them then. When I finish some games, because right now I'm addicted to Rise of NAtions.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:13:59 UTC from web
                                1. @nerthos @scribble i'd say the only one you need to try is CoD4, then Black Ops 2 if it is as different as it SEEMS to be. For one they seem to be re-doing the multiplayer from the ground up.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:14:45 UTC from web
                                  1. @cavatina @nerthos I second CoD4, I still think it's the best 'modern' FPS you can get.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:15:21 UTC from web
                                    1. @scribble The game is SOLID. Black Ops 2 is the one i'm really excited for...just the changes they are doing to the formula are keeping me interested. It's making the "changes" in black ops seem like they actually were just gimmicks. For one...the point system instead of having slots for everything and all that. But if this is just more of the same, i wont be in any rush to get the next one...we'll see the multiplayer teaser this month.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:16:37 UTC from web
                                      1. @cavatina I won't be holding out much hope, but I'll still look and see.

                                        1. @scribble I'm just confident in treyarch, they havent really...disappointed me yet. They've been mostly held back before now, and thislooks like the first time they've been given complete creative control, cause the multiplayer is actually changing xD. I'm cancelling my pre-order if the MP is the same feature wise though, i dont care enough about the plot to wanna get it on day one xD

                                      1. @peppermintgumdrops I really didn't like the Medal of Honour game from 2010. Way too much like Battlefield, which, considering the series' roots, is a bit head-scratchy.

                                  2. @cavatina @scribble In fact I'm probably just going to play the singleplayer campaigns. The FPS player demographic makes multiplayer insufferable.

                                    1. @nerthos CoD4 had a very good campaign in my book.

                                      1. @scribble I can probably beat games 1-4 in less than two weeks, so I'll play them in order.

                            2. @nerthos The series has kind of stuck with the Call of Duty 4 basis since that game came out 5 years ago, and now, most FPSs seem to be falling down the hole and not doing as well.

                        2. @nerthos Battlefield 2 was godlike. BF3 was decent, but TERRIBLE murdock on consoles. The reason they made the Bad Company games was to appeal to consoles.

                          1. @cavatina I never saw the point on making console shooting games, (with the notable exception of optic gun based games) the controllers are just not made for shooters.

                          2. @cavatina @greydragon412 Now that I think of it, there was a great multiplayer FPS for consoles: Dreamcast's Unreal Tournament.

                2. @nerthos For what it's worth, Savage 2 is a hybrid FPS/TPS/RPG game with a "commander" mode which is completely free and runs on Windows/MAC/Linux. You may want to give it a try if you like playing the commander over a team of players who mindlessly run into the enemy (but sometimes actually listen to you).

                  1. @omni Hmm, I might give it a try. On Nuclear Dawn if the players didn't listen, I just left them to their deaths and built stuff at will, following my own design.

    4. @greydragon412 You dislike all PC gaming.

    5. @greydragon412 Half Life 1, and also it's mod Wanted, on a really small map. That's action.

    6. @greydragon412 I barely touch consoles, mostly because of the controllers and the whole machine being designed just for games, nothing else. Wii and other movement-detection based systems seemed promising when they were launched, but they were really dissappointing for me. I still want a virtual reality enviorment, since what I always wanted in a multiplayer game was swordfighting. It's the only thing I can't do IRL, because swordfighting is likely to end in one or two hits, and with limbs falling.

    7. @greydragon412 Reminds me of Gunz, showerroom map. Think of a 10x5x5 room, with a couple of walls in the middle, and 10 guys with rocket launchers, machineguns and swords.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:25:14 UTC from web
      1. @nerthos GunZ was a fun game, before the community got so terrible you literally can't play a single match without getting kicked. By now, the only way to still play the game is to play on a private server, which is a shame.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:26:38 UTC from web
        1. @omni I first played a national server, then I went to a no-cheat international one, and when I came back to the first one I was basically invincible, everyone was horrible at it, and some relayed heavily on cheats.

    8. @greydragon412 Wii, as any other movement recognition sowtware, makes wielding weapons completely unrealistic.

    11. @greydragon412 I want to play games to do what's too risky to do IRL. I love moving. I used to play with wooden swords at school, where everyone was too idiotic to think about the danger of it, and hit people with enough strenght to break bones. Now I can't, because people know it would be suicide.

Friday, 03-Aug-12 17:31:15 UTC from web
    12. @greydragon412 My problem is that when I was at school I had half the strenght I have now. If I hit someone with a sword now, I'll probably end up in jail. So yes, go VR!
