  1. I hope Dark Souls lives up to my expectations, after hearing so many good things about it.

    1. @nerthos The thing about Dark Souls is that it is honest. In most games, when the enemies are "trying to kill you" they're doing a deliberately halfassed job to keep the story going. The enemies in Dark Souls genuinely try to kill you. There's none of this "Oh-I'll-give-you-an-opening" crap, it's learn to block, parry or riposte or get killed. Wander into a crowd of swordsmen, get cut to ribbons as they savagely gang beat you. Aggro a giant dragon, expect to burn to death. If you give the game an inch, it will take a mile, and then drag you over every broken glass covered inch of it.

      1. @ceruleanspark Ok, by that description now I'm sincerely expecting a challenge. I can't remember the last time I played an RPG that was actually difficult, obviously ignoring attempts at soloing raids at MMOs. If it is half as good as it sounds, I'll buy it right after playing it a couple hours. Also, non-cheating AI? I really want to try that.

      2. @ceruleanspark I heard the thing was easy peasy and played like every other game it just had issues with restarting once you died that made it an infuriating game.

        1. @abigpony The game has a very steep learning curve that starts to plateu out around Anor Londo (the games midpoint. Anor Londo represents the point at which the player has gotten into the game developers mindset and finds the challenges and puzzles less incomprehenisble. It's also where a lot of players discover the PVP part of the game and find themselves coming into a lot of extra experience and equipment very quickly, which takes the edge off somewhat.

    2. @nerthos However, as I said, the game is honest. The game doesn't allow the AI to cheat or act outside the rules it enforces on you. They won't magically recover their footing to avoid plummeting off cliffs, and you can exhaust their stamina and break their guard the same way they can yours.
