    On this International Day of Men I'd like to apologise for my dismissal of it in previous years. I'm not apologising to the people I was standing against, but to those that I'd swept under the rug collaterally. It's not me or men like me who need a day; it's the queer men, the trans men, the sick men and the men of colour who need a whole lot longer than that.

      @tiff to be fair Day of Men is a pretty dumb way of naming a day; quite general, which I guess was the idea.

          @tiff well i once thought of it as reactionary to days like Women’s Day, but your spin on it makes more sense.

            @awl yeah that was my initial feeling, or at least it had been taken over to be reactionary. and while some people certainly do still ride that wave they shouldn't ruin the day for people who need it

              @tiff quite. Vocal minorities (as in the loudmouths) ar hard to get around but when one does, one gets around to what bamed days are all about.
