  1. This was called the “twister mouth” and for the most part it was Bart doing it. The upper half of his head would turn in an opposite direction of the bottom half, including his mouth. It was a very conscious decision on the part of Wes Archer—if he animated an episode, this mouth, along with Homer’s curved M hairline (also visible in this frame) would usually show up. Eventually Archer, Matt Greoning, and David Silverman (the lead animation coordinator of the show during the Klasky-Csupo years along with Gabor Csupo) became tired of it and banned animators from using it on the show. The last time it appeared was in Season 6 I think. http://rainbowdash.net/url/871930
