                      @nerthos comedy has a lot of ways to be comedy. a large part of that comedy is mocking the worst of ourselves to give it that little deduction in power. generally, mocking the pop-opinion helps reduce its influence as a whole. it doesnt glorify it or rely on it. i mean, i guess there are some comedians that rely on it.

                              @nerthos Bob Newhart was big in the 60s/70s. Did standup, had a few TV shows, he's been in movies. His standup revolved around one side of an absurd conversation or situation, he was really a straightman without the "funny" one to play off of him but he made it work.
